So i'm getting a grinding/metal on metal/whistling noise coming from one of the pulleys. Sounds to be more on the passenger side.

Idler pulley, tensioner pulley, and alternator have all been replaced in the last 9 months. I'm aware that any of them could potentially still have failed in this time period.

I haven't had a chance to get it into the garage yet because I have another car in there that's pulled apart.

Is there any usual culprits for this particular noise? Like I said, it sounds very metallic and kind of produces a whistling effect.

I'm at 122K miles.

Any insight appreciated. Thanks.

I would take the belt off and spin all the pulleys.

The "whistling" noise is unusual for pulleys, though...

I just use a 3 foot length of heater hose and hold one end to your ear and take the other end and move it around the various components spinning. Be carefull you don't tangle it up in the belt. You will instantly find the source of the noise. Also may lead you to timing chain or guide noise inside the engine as well. Good for finding noisy injectors too.
