I know there are plenty of gun people here. Not sure how to word it, but would anyone here consider themselves a prepper? Or would anyone else consider you one?

I watch some of the shows on it and it seems it consumes people and I don't have time.

If it happens lets just say I'm screwed. I'll either be surfing the net or manufacturing marauder stuff when the end comes. I better get to the shop and finish those cot plugs and oil pulls so they're shipped out before this goes down!!!

Get ready for some good old recoil, we used to carry the Glock 22s in Detroit before transitioning to the S&W .40 cals which had less recoil.

Not comparing it to any particular other gun, simply stating it has a lot of recoil imo, my Ruger 9mm, and every other gun I own has less recoil. and we transitioned to the Smith&Wesson M&P40.

Oh, I was just curious, I didn't think the .40 glocks had that much recoil, but, I believe they have more than my 229 Sig, but I just attributed that to the heavier slide that the Sig has. Just wanting to get some comparative notes.

Recently got a Springfield XD-.45cal it does have some recoil but don't bother me. Only handgun I found that was irritating recoil was a Desert Eagle 50cal. I have alot of high powerd long guns, so recoil is something Ive just learned to live with. My next toy will be a SBR 7.62 AR platform & planned to put a suppressor on it even though shorter barrels drastically shorten life of a good suppressor.

as for prepping, i've got a supply of freeze dried food, MRE's and water that will last me through a few week snow storm or something of the sorts. I've also got a bug out bag with the typical survival type gear... nothing extreme

My brother has a G 23 he loves it, I personally dont care for it. Ive had alot of Semiauto pistols thru the yrs & undoubtedly my Springfield XD is my favorite. Its all in what that person likes & feels comfortable with.

Get ready for some good old recoil, we used to carry the Glock 22s in Detroit before transitioning to the S&W .40 cals which had less recoil.

Recoil? From a Glock 22?
I handloaded Elmer Keith loads for my Model 29 S&W's,22 grains of 2400 powder with 240 grain JHP's and fired upwards of 150 rounds with them nearly every week end for years, wore a few of them out.
Now my back up,pocket pistol is a Kahr CM40,it is a ball to shoot. My main daily carry is a Glock 29 in 10MM,roughly equal to a .41 Magnum and that's almost a *****cat to shoot.
When you get up to .454,.460 or .500 in a handgun you start getting some real serious recoil.
Here's another old guy and his Glock 29..........http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2b1f6qbTFwc

I'm just a gun nut. And I like having lots of ammo.

My biggest reason for "prepping" isn't zombies, although I am sitting here watching The Walking Dead. At 7 miles from the ocean, it's hurricanes. More specifically, the aftermath. Think New Orleans in 2005. I want to give myself the best odds possible, and in a situation like that, calling 911 isn't going to accomplish a thing.

I picked up one of these RIA 1911 A-2's at the Ft. Knox PX a couple of years back for $499.
The double-stack mag holds 14 rounds of .45 ammo, and the reliability and accuracy have exceeded my expectations. It's a real blue-collar, no bells & whistles powerhouse.
So, I am pretty much ready for whatever comes around - man, beast, alien, vampire, zombie; whatever.
