Valentine One is the best IMO....

I went with the concealed display and the direct wire options.

Great additions to the system FBM. I did a highmount at the top right by the rear view mirror. I move my detector from car to car.

I use the MirrorTap sold on AMAZON for power as well.

The utility of the radar detector has been greatly decreased by the increased use of laser (LIDAR), at least here in California.

While the Valentine will detect laser, it is pretty useless as it only alerts you to the fact you were just lasered and you're going to get a speeding ticket.

Radar's broad beam would allow for early detection. Laser does not.

I hate testing cars there... only state in the whole damn country that makes me get pre approval to bring in a prototype test car...

Which is a giant PITA as Los Angeles is a special market when it comes to operation of the OBD system of a car, traffic light duration and average speed really screw things up for guys like me there!

Be warned....as goes California, so will go the rest of the country. Several states in the US have already placed themselves under the jurisdiction of the California Air Resources Board (The dreaded CARB). There is serious talk of making the California standard the Federal standard, and I would bank on it happening within the next 5 years or so. From my perspective, I'm golden, because I already have to deal with this draconian state. Lots of people elsewhere are in for a (very) rude awakening.

Emissions standards versus enforcement is two different things z enforcement isn't even a topic that's on the table. However yes emissions standards will be comminuted within short term.

LEV III standards are the start of it...

Waste of money! Run with the flow of traffic and watch for brake lights ahead of you and stay in the rocking chair, do not be lead dog:)

Never used one in 2.75 million miles

I only like having mine when I am being a moron and doing the 120-140mph pulls...

Other than those times I am often the dick doing 65mph in a 70mph zone...

We were coming through Jacksonville Florida 2 Sundays ago and were riding with the flow of traffic. Speed Limit was 55 and we were doing about 67. FHP officer was running Laser and shot me and the car next to me. I had a laser detector and laser jammers going off. The guy next to me was riding with the flow and he got pulled over. He could have only been doing 1 or 2 MPH faster than me.

I run the Valentine One and Escort ZR4 Shifters.

When I lived in PA. (most of my life) Only State Police are allow to use radar by law!

Now in NJ Local Police are allowed to use it so more people have it.

Most of my miles were in Tour Bus and radar was not allowed by US DOT law! Anything commercial over 5 tons. (If I remember correctly)

So I learned to drive without it. Did better than most drivers that tried to beat the law as if they got stopped and the Police saw the unit it was removed (by law) and even more tickets issued!

Imho the best radar detection system is your eyes and awareness. Im not saying ive never had a speeding ticket, but i can say that i can spot a cop in a heartbeat.

Some people say the v1 is too noisey but you have to tune it just check out v1s site. Most states Dont use x band so turning that off will make it much quiter you can also auto mute x or k since most the time x are false k in the city is 85% false but ka is never false too auto mute only visual alert until 3 or 4 seconds then we'll go to full sounding alert etc etc. You have too know about radar and how its used and how to tune a v1 to take full advantage of it once you do your un stoppable
