Dale Earnhardt Jr. has been docked 25 championship driver points, fined $10,000 and put on probation until June 1 for his actions during Sunday's Nextel Cup Series race at Bristol, NASCAR officials announced Wednesday.

They probably should have taken more points. He still came out better than he would have if he had played by the rules and pitted under the green, losing 2 laps. I'm surprised they didn't fine him even more for cursing during the post-race interview.

(I think I jumped back on the MM.net). After #88 Jarrett cut a tire and hit the wall and dropped to 21st after running 7th, I kinda lost interest. To be honest, I really did not think that #8 Little E's spin was intentional -- it was very opportune; but saw the wheel with the oblong holes indicating a severely loose wheel. Now, I find out that he radioed his crew and admitted to the spin in the interviews. I guess NASCAR has no "self incrimination" clause. Mike Helton did the right thing -- we can't have drivers doing this kinda stuff to prevent going down a lap. Earnhardt's spin was pretty innocent 'cause no one was around -- the next time that someone tries this stunt could be responsible for a big wreck.

He should have blamed the tire guy, pay the tire guy's fine, publically punish him but buy him a new car, a nice meal, a weekend vacation at some place of his choice etc... for taking 1 for the team.
It wouldn't have been honest but he intentionally spun out anyhow. 2 wrongs make a right.
