Hello All: I have been in the Hospital since 12/17. Started out as Asthama attacks in late Oct. and got worse and worse. A CT scan of the chest was ordered and the problem was found......blood clot in the lungs.

It will take a while to recover from this. I am grounded from driving anything till at least April.

No school bus, no trolley, & no marauder:shake:

I am beening discharged today 12/20 at some point in time.

I am blessed to be alive and home for Christmas.

I hope to be road ready in the spring.

Big Dog.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery and Merry Christmas! Asthma is no joke! I had asthma for years, until I moved to Florida. Granted, it wasn't from a clot. But, I know how you must have felt! YOU TUBE is your friend while you can't drive! I am sure there are other sites to check out driving vid's while you are in the recovery mode.

Sorry to hear this Jim, but glad to hear that it was caught in time. Serious stuff, glad that it didn't break free and cause any damage. 6 1/2 years ago, I was having shortness of breath in the morning when I got up. Thought that it was a summer cold, I'd take sudafed and continue with my day, first night walked a mile, and up intothe upper deck of Cleveland Indians ball park. Next Night, went drag racing with (I believe) Mark, Jerry, Barry and Matt. Next morning, same thing, except that I also got light headed and saw stars. Donna was over and took me to the emergency room. They found a massive blood clot in my lungs. They loaded me up into an ambulance and transported me to a hospital that had a surgeon on duty that day, (July 4th) just in case the blood clot broke loose. Spent the first two days in ICU, was in the hospital for 9 days because that clot would not dissolve without the help of some strong blood thinners. So strong that I had to lay in bed perfectly still. The automatic blood pressure cuff ended up rupturing the blood vessels in my arm. But it worked. I now have to take Coumadin / warfarin for the rest of my life, but so be it. I'm alive, and plan to stay that way. We both cheated death. Could have easily broke free and silently killed us. I know exactly where the clot formed and broke free a couple nights earlier. Felt it happen, was extremely painful for a few minutes. Just didn't know what happened. A couple years later, ended up dating a gal that came home to find her husband lying dead on the bathroom floor from a blood clot that broke free and killed him. My Uncle died of the same thing.

It gave me a new appreciation of life. Glad that you pulled through it Jim, looking forward to seeing you in Carlisle in June.

Jim,

Sorry to hear about your ordeal, and very happy for you and your family that you are well enough to be back home to enjoy the holidays. I too had a close call back to 97 with a clogged artery call the widow maker and I know how you fell and what your going through.

Take care and let the good doctors get you back to full speed!!
