My buddy has a Toureg, great machine, he bought it new, it now has a little over 200k on the clock.
It's a V8 motor sounds great, of course I said "we should mod it" started looking and evidently no one tunes them.

A lot of places tune the V8 (earlier years; now V6 Turbo), but I bought a diesel. 29 MPG, 775 mile range, tows 7,716 pounds, 4-Motion. I'm just starting to look for tuning options now.

Heck yeah on the TDI. Got 2 TDI's in the driveway as well as the MM myself. I was wondering if it were a TDI. Great choice !

Real pictures this time (instead of the one from the VW website - I brought it home in the dark, and had to wait until daylight to take a picture).

Touareg. A variant of Tuareg: a member of a nomadic people of the central and western Sahara and along the middle Niger from Tombouctou to Nigeria.

From an article on Global Post ..... When you read about the Tuareg rebels fighting in Mali, do you wonder why VW has named its SUV Touareg?

We did, so we asked VW.

"The vehicle was named after the Tuareg people, a Berber-speaking group in North Africa. Derived from the strength and adaptability of the tribe, we see the same qualities in our SUV," answered Amber H, a live chat representative on the VW website.

Now you know.

I still like Joe Walsh's explanation that VW is naming the products after obscure European vegetables. ;)

Nice SUV!
Love the color.

I always wanted one of those rare 2004 5.0L V10 TDI models.
Better looking than the Porsche Cayenne and what an engine!
310 HP and only 553 FT-LBS of torque.....bone stock!
Imagine one of those with a higher boost 'tune'.....
Too bad they had a sketchy build quality back then.

BTW: Can you sauté Toureg's in olive oil...?.....:P

I heard it was built off the same platform as the Porsche Cayanne... And a bad ass ride on it's own...

Those things are nice. My boss had a TDI one and it was very cool inside. And really quiet

No kidding!! It's like a tomb in there.

And, yes, same platform as the Cayenne. And the sales guy says its the same as the Q5, but I'm not so sure about that part of it.
