RIP, Annette Funicello, beloved Mouseketeer, dies at 70.

Like most guys my age Annette was probably your first "crush".

Sad indeed...I was only 4 when show first aired....a piece of childhood now gone.

God Bless and R.I.P.

Not trying to be callous, but this is an old article. She passed away back in April.

There is no expiration date on mourning, we all do it in our own way. I still haven't taken down my posters !

TCM has a Frankie Avalon/Annette movie on this evening, Bikini Beach.

I'm watching it mainly out of respect for a very classy girl/lady.

Every one of us guys rushed home to watch the Mickey Mouse Club back in the 50's, and it wasn't to see Roy, Jimmy, or Mickey.

The show had one or two other cute girls. (I seem to remember another pretty girl, Darlene.)

But Annette was #1.

I've met Darlene Gillespie (and Tommy Cole) - nice people.

Darlene and Annette, what a competition. I'm not sure that you guys are really old enough to know how hard it was to choose, a blonde and a brunette, both well proportioned and yes, rememberable.

Annette was a bit more shapely back then compared to Darlene, IMHO. But, still, good looking girls.

And, Annette never had to pull a Miley Cyrus stunt as she got a bit older.

But, times have changed.

Who's "Miley Cyrus"?

*Definitely doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same thread as Annette Funicello.

Relax; take a deep breath.

It's a negative comparison showing how times have changed.
