I got a used Xcal2 with a horrible screen display. (Save your get what you pay for speech) I can read it to a point where I can get to Select Tune to upload my tune... Turn Key On, DO NOT TURN ON CAR. I Push select and it keeps flashing followed by the sound of failure. The sound it makes when something is wrong.
Can someone tell me where to go from Select Tune?
I Choose the tune I think I want, select it, make sure the key is turned to the on position, select again but the tune will not go and the screen keeps flashing.
The tune will not upload or I am doing something wrong.
Please help. Imagine NO SCREEN. That's what it's close to.
Anyone that says call Xcal, save it. They will not help with this, they will only tell me to buy a NEW tuner.
I love the EPA!
You didn't remove the vin lock with liveload.

I am guessing this is another thing that is beyond my ability and I have to send the tuner back. Correct?

I don't know, can you use a mouse?
That's what the problem sounds like to me....simple fix

I have access to a Mac, not a PC. All of this software is for PCs. Last time I tried to do this with a friends PC, it was a mess and no progression was made. I am aware these are programs to "override" programs to make PC programs work on a Mac. Computers are not my thing.
Everything Is Wonderful.
Thank you for telling me the issue.
Now it's time to find a way to do this before the month is over. Woo hoo!!! No stress.

Ah ha. Translation... IT'S LOCKED. It was sold to me as unlocked. Looks like I was totally screwed by a member from another board.
Fantastic.

The seller of this tuner told me this...
"If I remember correctly when it says turn key but don't start the car once it recognizes, you have the option for optional parameters and if you hit cancel the next screen will be to load the tune."
I found step by step instructions...

Let's see if this works, but I am really flying blind here.
I love people.

The tuner is half locked. You have to plug it into a pc with the liveload software and click the unlock button. Had to do the same thing to mine.

Awesome!
Looks like a thread will go up if I cannot get this to work today... on who to NOT buy anything from.

It is not the seller's responsibilty to hook the tuner up to liveload and remove the vin lock, its the end user's.
If the seller loaded the stock tuning in before the sale, they are 100% a legit and honest seller.
It is ONE KEY STROKE in Liveload to remove the Vin lock.

That requires a PC to do. It's not like I am sitting here with the proper tools and asking for help. I LACK the tool.
I bought it being told it was "unlocked", not "unlocked after you do "this"".
Going back to stock was the best decision I ever made. This aftermarket b.s. is almost gone.
Being a 28 year old man that can manage to form a band, brush his teeth and clothe himself everyday, I doubt you will find anyone to sympathize over your lack of 'PC'
They are everywhere, and everyone owns one.
The fact you keep using it as an excuse tells us you want your hand held, yet again.
Its gratifying to solve your own problems, now go and find a PC.

Maybe a library PC? Or maybe 5 minutes on a friends downloading the drivers and the software... It's rather simple and explained on SCT's site for the xcal2
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk so I may sound retarded.

FOR THE FORD X3/SF3 3000/3015 AND THE GM SF3 3100:
Power up the device by plugging in to either a vehicle's OBDII port or a computer's USB port. (usb cable not included)
Once powered up, scroll all the way down to device info.
Press Select on Device Info.
Status will either be: Status: Locked or Status: Unlocked.
*This is the breakdown of what each one means:*
Status: Locked - The vehicle is VIN locked, you need to either return the vehicle it is currently locked to back to stock, or you will need to call Tech Support and Get a Return Authorization and pay an Unlocking Fee.
Status: Unlocked - Your tuner is not locked, go tune.
FOR THE X2 9400 AND THE SF 9415:
Power up the device by plugging in to either a vehicle's OBDII port or a computer's USB port. (usb cable not included)
Once powered up, scroll all the way down to device info.
Press select, this will display firmware version and serial number.
Press select again, and this will display the Tuner Status.
NOTE: If it does not take you to the Tuner Status Window, and instead kicks you back to the Device Info Screen, Your Firmware is Old and will Need to be Updated to check the status. There is an FAQ section for this.
Status will either be: Stat=Stock, Stat=Aftermarket, or Stat=Unused.
*This is the breakdown of what each one means:*
Stat=Stock - Your tuner is half locked, but fixable. Go the the tech support page, select the Ford Xcalibrator 2 in the first drop down, select Device Update Software in the second drop down and hit Search. Download Liveload 3 by clicking the "Click Here to Download" next to it. Install this application, once installed open it up, plug in the X2. The program asks the X2 to be on the main menu. Program Vehicle is the main menu of the X2s. Press the unlock button within the liveload application. This will change the status to Unused and the tuner will then be ready to tune a new vehicle.
Stat=Aftermarket - The vehicle is VIN locked, you need to either return the vehicle it is currently locked to back to stock, or you will need to call Tech Support and Get a Return Authorization, send it the Device and pay an Unlocking Fee.
Stat=Unused - Your tuner is not locked, go tune.

There is a reason to have a Mac over a PC in my world as to yours. Maybe someday you will understand that.
Thanks for the info though.

Thanks. I will try this with this horrible screen.
Go to a library? They do not like it when you download software.
Ask a friend? Tried it before, it was no good. I'd like to keep the remaining friendships healthy than be mad at them over doings from the EPA.

It's working.
Thank you all.
It's the screen that was the issue. Step by step instructions is what helped.
Thank you Zack, Martyo and the rest.

You could have tried the Orland Park library where they don't believe in software or internet filters. Lots of PCs as well as old guys with their pants around their ankles.
