Well sadly my Marauder isn’t a 12 second car any more….. It’s so much better then that now.
It ran the 11.93 @ 114.5 in not so perfect conditions. Much better air then when I was in FL with the car, but in Florida I ran the fuel tank with only a couple of gallons in it, this time it was almost ¾’s full because I couldn’t ration it out before I got to the track to be at a lower level.
Also there was a pretty strong head wind. My prediction was an 11.88 which would have easily happened with out the head wind and fewer pounds in the gas tank.
For those who follow some quarter mile stuff, the 60ft was an amazing 1.72!! This is nothing short of incredible for a vehicle of this nature with the tires I drove it there on.
This is just a little too fun now…. Drove it there with three other adults in the car, messed around a little on the high way getting to and from the track and then turn numbers like this with a quiet four door??? This was the only run I got today too. The track was busy and they wouldnt let me hot lap it so I got impatient and left.
Next Saturday a friend of mine has rented the drag strip I was at today for about four hours in the morning while it will still be cold out hopefully. On that day I think I will bring home an 11.75 to 11.85 for sure. Just a couple of months ago I told every one I would have been happy with low 12’s on just the blower alone and maybe dip into the 11’s with a little shot of NOS and now its running so good with the Trilogy blower alone and I’ve become so busy at my shop because of the time of the year it is…. I have'nt even made an effort to figure out a better in tank fuel pump for my MM.
Not to rub it in or continue to brag, but this has all happened with the stock transmission other then a Baumann shift kit, stock torque converter and completely stock exhaust!! It is making 13.6psi of boost though and it has 4.10s in the axle. I can’t wait to hit the local cruise spots tonight and the rest of this summer. I’m gona send a lot of people home feeling hurt with this car.
Thanks

That's GRRRREEEEAAATTT!!! I knew Lidio could pop an 11 second run. If I know Dave, and I do, he will want the same goodies so he can do it too. When I get the money, I will let Lidio and Trilogy do their magic on mine too. Wish I could have been there but I'm still at work. Brought my laptop so I could see the results. Did you run Paul? I will see you guys tommorrow. Great run Lidio.

Its nice to see all your hard work on the Marauder pay off Lidio! Im lucky enough to see this as a passion of yours instead of just a business, something lacking from some these days. That car is a beast! Believe it folks, 11.9 with a minimum of mods, and he isnt even done yet! It has to be said! You Da Man Lid!

Way to fly. And they say sedans are for the over 60 crowd who can't tell the difference between the skinny and the wide pedal!! This should prove them wrong. Makes me wonder how you would do against the "Silver Streak", '66 Dodge Coronet that terrorized Woodward during the sixties and now is shown at the cruise in the Chrysler area?

The front tires are the stock BFG's on stock rims, the rear tires are the Nitto Extreme Drag Radials 305/45/18 on the widened factory rims 9.5 X 18. He got a real good burnout and it hooked like crazy...

Congrats on being the first in the 11s, as well as the 1.7 short time. You planning on making it to Atlanta in November for the Southern Super Heavy Shootout SSHS4 (http://www.sshs4.com/)... the final battle? You'll likely be in the top 10 for sure.

It would be great to see Lidio run at the Shootout, I just wonder if he is willing to add a rollcage to his car.

That is also what I think, however once you get below 12 many tracks will not allow you to run without one.

I know, I wonder what he is thinking... He is proud of the fact it is such a daily driver and not ratted out with a bunch of crappy, unecessary go fast mods that turn it into rattle trap that you couldnt take your family to sunday dinner in. To this day when i drive people around, they have NO idea what my car is capable of, nothing about it tips them off. I know that neither myself or Lidio is prepared to turn our cars into race cars!

04-05-2004, 06:06 PM
He wouldn't need a cage, just a roll bar. For the most part you can get away with a high 11 run every once in a while. However, if you drive in and run a mid 11 on your first pass then they'll likely send you home early. Just race with a full tank of gas, throw some weight, perhaps lots of weight, in the trunk and run low 12s. Then when it comes time for the big dog quick 8 race you can lighten the load and run 11s and they probably wont say a thing.

Hey guys….
There is definitely not a role-bar in the future for my Marauder, ( I hope I can reframe from this one). My wife and friends watched this happen in the late 80’s with my first Mustang and then in the mid 90’s with my wife’s ‘88LX she bought new and we still own.
These cars transformed into street strip cars that ended up needing role bars and once that happens the cockpit is never the same again. I’m gona try to not let history repeat its self with my MM.
Like stumpy said,
for the most part you can get away with a few high 11’s here and there and they really don’t say any thing. Plus lots of tracks are IHRA not NHRA.
IHRA tracks don’t require a role bar until 11.49 or better. In the past when I wanted to not tear up a Mustang that I cared about with a cage I’d simply buy another one that was purpose built to be raced and caged etc. I’m not in a position to buy another Marauder just for the sole purpose of making it a completely track legal and safety requirement car.
I would though if the finances allowed. I’d love to take a Marauder and gut it in all the right places where it would still look like a Marauder but weight about 600-900lbs less with another 100-200 more HP’s. Mid 10s would be very conceivable.
For any one who might be potentially interested in catching up to me and my MM at some races….. here is a list of the races and tracks I intend to hit with my Marauder this coming spring, summer and fall. These are all about 4- 8 hours from me and most are NMRA races because I love that crowd and I can run it in their MOD motor class and fit right in for the most part.
I fully intend to hit all of these.
NMRA race in Columbus, OH……….…………………............April 30th – May 2nd
World Ford Challenge @ Gateway Intl. St Louis, MO ...May 13th - 16th
Smack Down at Norwalk Race Way, in OH …………………… May 21st
NMRA race in Kansas City, MO………………………………..... June 18th – 20th
Fun Ford Weekend at Norwalk, OH …………………………. ..July 9th – 11th
NMRA race in Joliet, IL……………………………………… ........July 23rd – 25th
NMRA race in Martin, MI………………………………….…......Septemb er 10th -12th
NMRA race in Bowling Green, Kentucky …………………..September 30th – Oct3rd
Jerry Barns and MI2QWK4U will hit a couple of these as well.
Thanks

That is a ton of racing, make that 2 tons of racing, a simple roll bar would be in your own best interest, and your families.

WOW!!
That is GREAT, and I hope everyone appreciates what under 12 seconds means for a 4,300 lb, 4-door sedan*. Congrats on an EXCELLENT job Lidio!!!!
Are the "10s" just around the corner??!!
* if you don't know what I meant by this...pick up a copy of Motor Trend (Mac's bible) and look at the listing in the back of all the cars tested this year and their 1/4 mile times....hard to find more than a couple with better numbers than that

I agree with the role-bar thing but I’ve never felt so safe in a car going these speeds and accelerating like this.
I know that doesn’t make it safer but it doesn’t feel unsafe. This car goes down the 1320 literally with out having to hold the steering wheel at all. Other then the wider rear rims and the Nitto 305 Drag radials, I’ve done nothing to the suspension at all and it 60ft’s great, and just goes perfectly straight.
In the last couple of days I’ve played with the tune and have adjusted the torque converter to lock at WOT only in 3rd gear, shortly after the 2-3 shift (still locks under normal driving in 4th only at about 63mph like I always do).
This has proven in many other vehicles I race and tune to be worth a about .5-1.0 tenth and little bit more mph in the ¼.
This coming Saturday as I mentioned in an earlier post, a friend of mine rented Milan Dragway for his 40th birthday party (awesome B-Day thing). And I’m invited to bring one of my own cars… of course it will be my MM. The weather is looking good for that day. I’m gunning for a 11.70 to 11.80 if there’s no head wind and I can run the tank emptier then the last time I took it to the drags. This may seem optimistic but I think it's in it if the track hooks like it did last weekend.
Thanks
I'd like to see the 1st Marauder with a roll cage...

You have the following information describing your car
"Actual" power #'s from Dyno:
306.9 RWHP
322.9 RWTQ
"S.A.E. corrected" #'s from Dyno:
294 RWHP
309.4 RWTQ
Do you have any backup articles about the above calculations?
I have dyno numbers. How do I know if they are not already corrected or not? When others use dyno numbers, which of the two numbers do they most likely mean?

John, the place where I had the Dyno test performed routinely uses the "Actual" HP and TQ #'s simply to make their customers happy to try and drum up more sales and service, since those figures often turn out to be a bit higher. But what I later learned from some of the guys on this board (TAF, LOGAN, MAC, and ZACK) is that the "SAE" #'s are the accepted standard in racing circles. So I then returned to the Dyno place to have them go in their dyno files and to retrieve the "SAE" corrected #'s for me which will often be a bit lower. Both figures are taken at the rear wheels but one can be a bit inflated since it doesn't take in account things like air temperature being colder and things of that nature that can give your car a bit more power.
