Are you sure that radio will fit? The 2002 used a weird-o 1.5 DIN head unit...the front was double DIN, but the back was only single. A full double-DIN radio won't fit.

Yup, that one will fit...
Let us know how you make out...I have the factory cassette radio in my DD and want to change it out for a CD version, but stay factory-looking. I hate the way all modern radios look and the way you have to navigate through 17 on-screen menus just to add a little bass...

I have always thought this way.
Until wanting in car navigation. So I took the dive! The waters great come on in:banana2:
Steering wheel controls still flip through the modes (radio, pandora etc.) and the stations. Phone calls come through the radio flawlessly. And I still can't believe the sound quality out of stock speakers.
It is easier to use than I expected, of course I had a competent person for installation and setup. Thanks again limited360 :bows:

Unfortunately Ford has the habit of changing wiring, connectors, and colours at random for no discernible reason, so my 2003 wiring diagram may not be valid for your '02, especially since they went double-DIN in '03.
If you have an account, go to CVN and PM DanMitchell13...he seems to have diagrams for everything...

Yeah, that's a common complaint. The owner, Steve Spaulding, is the only one who can approve new members and he is not as active as he once was...
I'll PM Dan on your behalf and see if he can help.

I got this from Dan:
In order to get the right diagram I need to know the following.
What kind of soundsystem the car has? Basic or premium?
If its premium does the car has steering wheel radio control or not?

There are 16 places in the connector, but you may indeed only have 14...pins 2, 4, 11, and 16 are grounds, so your harness may not have all of them.

this is true the radio does show 16 the harness 14 and the company i bought it from said that the 2 missing are grounds if my memory serves me right ... why sooooo many grounds lol ;)
and they said it is the base radio too.. i really love this peg leg single exhaust machine lol.. do you have a diagram on the pins on the back of the radio ?

Sometimes the extra ground is to turn the clock display on and off in the radio face. Town cars have a seperate clock so one of the grounds is added/eliminated to keep the clock off the radio face from lighting. Marauder 300A's have the seperate clock, so they have the clock off in the radio face and 300B's have it in the radio face even though it is the exact same radio.
And I have put a double DIN in a 1998 CV and a 2001 MGM. You have to take a piece of 2 X 4 and a heat gun and re-mold the upper section of the defroster duct in the back that interferes with the double DIN radio. Ford re-designed the duct for 2003 and up, but the heat gun method works great and no loss in defroster duct output. Just have to be patient and gently work the plasstic. Then some minor trimming in the back may be needed as well.
Just in case you decide to go with a later model radio in the future.
