Man I love Dyno tunes. Theres nothing better than leaving an event like this with the highest numbers of the day and commanding immediate respect from the Mustang Guys.
Cruztaker went first and claimed the highest N/A #'s of any MM known, congratulations Barry- 302rwhp & 307rwtq

And then it was my turn. You know something good happened when the guy operating the computer mumbles Holy *****.
Ill cut to the chase, My car made...

476rwhp
&
423rwtq

Needless to say, the car is a beast. I switched to a 10lb supercharger pulley, added the cooling mod and my newest trick, 2004 computer & dual knock sensors. And I cant forget the improved fuel filter Dennis sells.

Yeah, Im happy

Those are some serious #'s Zack!! Congrats...........also to Barry for the #'s his car made. I'm jealous(I bet Todd will be too)........

well, you big city boys sure know how to live!! We aren't allowed cars that go that fast down here, when you spit that plug of chewing tobacco out the window it can be a lethal projectile. Also the deer whistles make it impossible to hear the radio!!

Congrats Zac,

...2004 computer & dual knock sensors...

GREAT, I'm glad someone got to try this... I wanted to go this route, but then the money ran out! Did you have any issues with integrating this with the '03 transmission? That was my biggest concern... any other hurdles?

BTW, congrats on the numbers. Was it your car that just woke me up a few minutes ago?

This should put you in the 11's Zack congrats on all your hard work, I believe you have the highest numbers for any Marauder with just 10 PSI with a STOCK Motor

belated April fools joke I meant 11's he should have no problem going 11's

The highest PEAK numbers, yes. Dennis, do you really think Zack will get into the 10 second bracket? I was a bit surprised to see that you stated that. I say that beacuse I didn't think that will be the case w/the Torque # being in the low 400's. But perhaps I'm wrong abouyt that. I am in no way saying that his #'s aren't impressive, so please don't take me the wrong way. I'm simply posing an honest question since the HP # is a lot higher than the torque # is. Yes, either way, Zack's #'s are SUPER!!!! I don't dispute that. Just asking a question. ;)

Zack, it would be very interesting if you can post the Dyno sheet for us so that we can see the graph, and how the Torque and HP curves are. Again, I'm not debating w/you guys. Either way, those are serious #'s like I've already stated in my previous post. I'm just asking for the Dyno sheet for educational purposes, and I consider myself among the students here. :)

Awwww man Billy... Stop that.

10's? I dunno about that... mid-11's definately..

Awesome numbers Zack...

Personally, I'm done power wise. I feel above the 450rwhp mark is just asking for a new shortblock. I just don't need the expense!!

I applaud those brave-enough to venture forth, me...I'm a wussy and am quite finished at 437rwhp and 417rwtq...

2004 computer & dual knock sensors.
Zack, we need more info on this! What did you use for a wiring harness? Pieces from a 2004 harness connected in with the 2003 harness, or patchwork, or what? And how about the traction control functions which are part of the 2004 PCM. Do you have a 300A, and how did you get around the t/c controls? I'm planning to have my intake off soon and was very interested in accomodating the sensor and wiring while the intake is off.

You leave the knock sensor in the car completely alone. Buy an 03 or 04 knock sensor (the connectors are different but you cut it off anyway)
Bolt the knock sensor to the boss in the intake valley on the passenger side.
Unbolt the harness connected to the computer and remove the black plastic cover. Locate pin holes 23 & 102 (23 is - 102 is +)
Buy gold plated computer connectors from ford, they are a few bucks a piece and you will need 2.
Now the pin locations in the harness will need to have a hole drilled in it to install the pin, be careful not to damage any of the wires around it. Once drilled, install the pins. You will need to drill 2 holes in the top of the black plastic cover to pass the 2 new wires through.
Cut the end off the new knock sensor. If you have an 04 sensor, the darker wire is negative. I think the same is true for the 03, but the 03 sensors have different color wires to begin with.
Finally, you run wires from the new knock sensor to the computer harness.
As for the programming, you will need to have Superchips present to do this for you. A lot of changes need to be made for shifting pressures and the internal gear ratios are different between 03 and 04, which will make your OD light blink. Superchips can do all of this, but it takes a long time. Mac and I were the first car they ever did this to.

As for the t/c issue, I guess Superchips programs to disable this function too? I suppose it would be ok to get a mating connector for the knock sensor from a wrecked car's harness to use instead of hard-wiring the sensor to the PCM connector. Superchips programming takes a long time? Since they have the parameters now it seems that they should be able to provide them pretty much with the SCT? Or are those parameters not readily accessable? I guess you also had to get the dealer to install and program the PATS so the keys would work? Did you mean that Macs car has this too?

Zack.

Let me know what day you need me to come over and help with the narrowed rear end and tub job. We probably can put the wheelie bar on at the same time. Do you think that Christmas lights on the inside would help at all?

You're a Monster!

Best,

Mark

Zack, one question. Do you now think that maybe you are asking for trouble pushing the car to the limits like this? Please don't cut me down for asking, but I remember seeing on this board that beyond 450hp you may need some major upgrades such as sort block. I mean it seems like you are taking it out of the safe (if anything is safe) zone now. Also, I would like to know when will you take it to the track and get some times posted? I think it is very impressive the numbers you getting out of it. Congrats to and your tuner.

If you do this, the car will have to have the transmission line pressures adjusted to compensate for the new computer. It is not a plug and play mod.
We have not had any traction control issues to report.
As for wiring the knock sensor, the 03 harness does not have the wiring to accept a knock sensor. You have to modify the harness at the computer, there is no other way beside swapping out the entire wiring loom, and that is expensive.
It was a learning experience for SCT and with he 'rush' of a dyno tune, I think there is more to be learned in doing this mod.

This is a good question.
I subscribe to the thought that anything is safe until something blows up.
Look at it this way, Ive spent all this money so far, so a new engine is already written into the budget should I need it. But no way will I have one built unless this one gives up. Im gonna be the test mule for everyone as to just how much this motor can take. And yes, this means Im gonna do more to the car!

Thank you for the reply. It is nice to have someone else do the mods so we can see the results. I guess after the testing and data it is up to the individual on what mods they may want to do. Good luck on you car and future mods.

What is about the 2004 Computer and 2nd knock sensor that develpos the additional hp?

Is it solely the 2nd knock sensor that allows more agressive timing tables?

2004 computer allow additional tuning parameters?

Knock sensors are pretty much worthless over 4500rpms anyway.
The point of this mod is to optimize timing added and taken away between idle and 4500rpms. Its not there to increase max horsepower.
