There are lot's of great driving songs from the 1960's. However, my current favorite from today's line-up is:

All the CDs erom the "Eddie" series are great. Michael Pare will always be Eddie Wilson, no matter what part he plays in the future.

Don't know where I was in the 80's, but I've become a big Pretenders fan. Chrissie Hynde can sing up a storm, and the guitar playing is fantastic. Even picked up their DVD, "Loose in LA".

For a long time I thought it was a country song, well after seeing lionel richie on a VH1 special it turns out he was listening to C&W when he wrote it. Best or favorite is difficult to home in on; there are so many. Although it's about being on a train, Yello's On Track from their Pocket Universe album came to mind and has the right sound and tempo. Sorry, Dude, as a driving song Hungry Like a Wolf ROCKS. The opening guitar riff is sweet. I was into that whole New Wave /New Rock invasion from Europe so maybe that was it. For the music, though, not the fashion.

Awesome! I was listening to Ellington's 'Prelude to a Kiss' when I got out of my car today. I also love the Quincy Jones song from the Ocean's Eleven Soundtrack - 'Blues in the Night'. On the metal side, I've had my Incubus CD's in the changer and keep listening to 'Pardon Me' - of course you could slow down with 'Drive' (the title doesn't get much better)

Nugent rocks, man... regardless of whether one agrees or disagrees with his opinions, his music does rock. Stranglehold is an excellent tune, but Journey to the Center of the Mind (with his 60s band, the Amboy Dukes) is an absolute blast! Picture his lightning quick yet melodic guitar playing, mixed with a psychedelic Yardbirds-like 60s sound. It's worth buying one of their CDs (preferably the one with the above-mentioned tune) just to see them all decked out in Austin Powers-ish apparel, ruffles and all!

I just got into a Boston phase this week and I'm listening to their first album a lot again. Let Me Take You Home Tonight is getting a lot of play, especially since I never realized what a simple yet cool bassline was on that song. Also, since playing my Rickenbacker bass live using a pick for the first time and the treble turned way up, I'm suddenly appreciating Guess Who songs like No Sugar Tonight, Bus Rider, and No Time for their woody bass sound.

I most recently enjoyed "the Upper Me" from the album Freudiana, a rare and motivating tune about the id, ego and super-ego (..."but the Good in me don't wanna believe, that the Evil me is so, and a voice inside says "Do as you please", but the Upper Me says, "No, no, no, no, no, no!"").

Otherwise, I like guitar rock from Joe Satriani or Steve Vai, or the oldies from BS&T, Chicago or Ides of March "Vehicle" ("I'm the friendly stranger in the black sedan, won't you hop inside my car?") to motor-vate.

Unless the 6 year old commander is in the command position center rear, when we listen to "Get On Your Feet" by Gloria Estefan!
