So after 10 years of dreaming about owning a Maruader I purchased a 2004 Silver Birch, it took 3 weeks to finally get it hauled 1,300 miles to Maine, then I trailer it 6 hours north to Prince Edward Island Canada.

Before I purchased I paid for a complete inspection at the Ford dealership in Indiana and specifically asked them to check the quality of the antifreeze. The written report says good to -35 so all should be ok right.

First damn day I drive about 10 miles and I noticed no heat in the car and looked at the heat gauge to see it is running red hot. I pulled over asap and the car stalled in a big steaming mess on the side of the road.

Engine steaming hot but the rad is stone cold, is this thing frozen?????

No way was I taking any chances so I had it hauled in on a flatbed and find out the antifreeze is crap, drain everything and put in new antifreeze and it is all ok again.

First ever drive in the car, hell of a start thought I cooked it first time out.:mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2:

Sounds like your cooling system needs to be burped. (Air in the system)

Forget the exact name of the dealership right now, but they were located in Anderson Indiana.

I bought a southern car and drove it to MN 2 years ago. Half-way up the washer fluid (H2O) froze solid - I guess them southern boys don't need to worry about things freezing up.

Not the same issue as yours, but similar I guess. I hope everything works out for you!

Your lucky , If left with no coolant it could have cracked a head or block .

Thank-you Brad33 for the link regarding how to burb the coolant and be sure it free of air, very useful info.
