View Full Version : For Sale 1987 Buick GNX 100K
That's miles.
A former neighbor wants to sell his 1987 Buick GN (turbo) for north of 10K.
The car is running OK and is in one piece. This could be a good deal for someone who can wrench on cars and wants to put some money and effort into a once fabulous muscle car
The Buick regal sites, GN/GNX/T-type, put the cars value much higher.
PM me if interested and I'll put you in contact with the owner/seller.
Car is in Bossier City, La.

Thank God!! The thought of someone getting a GNX(!) for around $10k, and that person not being me, was making me ill.

Not an X. People just call them that because they still really don't know what they are even 28 years later. Had a guy at my shop say nice Monte Carlo you got there. Ugh, its a Buick lol.
Sorry guys about the misreporting. I had seen and touched the car a few months back but I didn't think much about it. Last night Loren's sister in law came by and asked if I was interested in the car. She thought it was a GNX. I didn't verify.
But when I went on line to price check, the GNX goes for 42 to 100K. I said wow Loren only wants 10K? Then I find that he did a lot of work, 12K, on the car since I last saw it. Double WOW.
Anyway, it's a GN, they go for 17-30K. So it's still a WOW. What tightens my jaws is that my S/C'd 2004 MM only lists for 9.2/9.6K according to KBB W/O SC. same mileage.
Regards,
Mike M

I had an 87 Regal V6. I had plans to put a built V8 in that car and all the fixin's. Got stolen in 1992. The frame turned up on the south side of Chicago about 30 days later.....

How come these GNX fetch such a high value? Are they that rare?
Is there a possibility of Marauder's getting that kind of value in 20 years.
Or is this an apples/oranges argument?

The GNX was a little over 500 produced! a totally different suspension, Turbo, Intercooler, wheel/tires, etc.
This car was beyond rare and sold for $28,900 brand new in 1987! i was in the 10th grade and feening for one of these rides, just couldnt afford it at that time:depress:
And yes its totally an apples to oranges comparison, Marauders will never come close to the value on a GNX.

547 to be exact! Numbered dash, grill, wheels and tires, rear suspension were all GNX only. For years you could not "clone" one due to the fact that GM would not sell any of the parts unless you could document that you owned the real deal. One of the fastest 1/4 mile cars ever produced in this country, grossly under rated at 245 hp and 360 lbs/ft of torque........drool....:bows:: bows:

Just the nature of the beast not a reflection on GM as a whole, i had 3 of them, and no major issues out of any, other me building them into total beast!

These cars suffer sometimes because people buy them expecting to throw parts and them and go fast immediately. They dont work that way. Trust me I have had 3 and worked on many. They are very sensitive to a number of tuning variables. It took a lot of work and a lot of trial and error but after 2 or 3 years I got the combination on my car perfect. From there once the tune up was set when I added parts it responded. For those of you that know these cars know when they run right they run VERY well. I went 120mph in the 1/4 through the factory stock exhaust elbow (unheard of). Too many times over the years I have seen people buy them, mod them, get frustrated, and sell them. Happens all too often.
