New gauge that looks like the stock one and comes with a new sender unit. Replace the dummy sending unit with the real one and then wire in the new gauge using the existing oil gauge wiring and ta-da real oil psi gauge.

Not that I know of or everyone would have just done it that one.

Carfixer did it 10 years ago. You'd have to use the search engine for that.

AutoMeter built the OEM gauge to Ford's spec and it's not compatible with a real sender. If you want to keep the original gauge's green backlighting, you can swap the faces, but the gauge itself still need to be replaced.

Correct. You can also install green LEDs. I'd swap out the voltmeter too as the faces are slightly different.

Dammit. I bought the Auto Meter 4321 mechanical one with the tubing. Is there an easy way to hook this one up or should I return it and get the electric one?

RATFARTS!!!

The good news is that you can use the signal lead from the factory oil sender (switch) and just replace (or reface) the gauge and swap the new sender in.

Easy.

Definitely easier. I ordered the new one and arranged for a return on the old one. What oil sending unit do I need?

Does anyone offer the gauge face swap as a service or have converted OEM look ones to sell? I really want the OEM lighting effect for the perimeter lighting AND the backlit green readout; since the "real" autometer one only does perimeter lighting and I don't want to replace the volts gauge too as I am on a tight enough budget as it is.

Is it new or used?

A brand new one will come with the 1/8 in. NPT sender and 1/4 in. NPT adapter/fitting, this is how Autometer sells #4327 http://www.autometer.com/cat_gaugedetail.aspx?gid=3099&sid=11

If your's does not end up coming with it this is the sender unit for it

I thought so, but then again who knows. It was moving around this winter when I had some battery issues in the cold. But then I thought maybe it was getting stuck with the subzero polar vortex crapola...
