I'm not sure if anyone else has already posted this info on this board in the past, but disreagrd this if that is the case............ If you want to get a clear perspective on exactly how much power a Nitromethane Dragster engine produces, then click on these two thumbnails and read them.......serious stuff!!!

I love the smell of NitroMethane. I got an air freshner at the strip in that scent.

But that description rocks!

Thanks man.

OMG you're sick!

I can't breath around them things, they practically suck all the oxygen out of the air and the smell is horrible! :puke:

Of course, the coolest thing is when they rumble down the track and your vision gets all blurry.

I like that smell of NitroMethane also. But if you are close enough to the engines, like you can get in the pits, it will choke you,and if they run a near-by engine for longer than about 20 seconds at a time w/you standing 15 or 20 feet away, it will make your eyes burn so badly that you have to immediately walk away. I LUV IT!!!!

But then again, I'm sure that you guys aready know that.....

BTW, out of the everything that article lists about TopFuel engines, the three things that I find the most amazing are these:

#1. It consumes fuel at the same rate as a 747 jet engine does, and puts out 25% more power too!!!

#2. During the induction phase inside those engines, the air is compressed so much that it almost becomes a solid!!!

#3. That off the line the engine has enough power to cause car and driver to pull 8G's off the starting line!!!! I thought that even the Appollo rocket ships and the space shuttle pull only 6G's upon lift off by comparisant. I'm not positive on that though. Somebody please correct me if need be. But I don't think that it's anymore than 8G's if even that. That's just remarkable.....

Ofcourse nothing can compare to that rocketship Marquis that you have. It's amazing that the hypothetical police officer you previously mentioned was even able to catch up to you......

Damn straight:rock: He only caught up because I let him!
I get some baaad tunnel vision in that thing!

You know I was kidding right?:D

LOL...yeah, kinda like the tunnel vision the judge has when you're standing in front of him in court. It kinda looks like this> :bows: or sometimes like this> :flamer: :P :P :P :P :P :P

IIRC you are correct. 6G's is the max that they can pull and still be able to reach the 'eject' button. 9G's you start to pass out, and 10G's is all the human body can stand for short periods.

And stumpy, don't confuse exhaust with the fuel . . . the sweet bubblegum sort of smell is the fuel. The exhaust is just nasty, but then again, we have a heavy diesel shop right outside my door (2nd floor) so my office usually smells like that too. Nitro Methane + burning slicks is a kind of aphrodesiac as far as I'm concerned ;)

I could be wrong, but I thought I had seen something a few years ago stating that this was a hoax. I'll have to research a bit... (that entire list that was posted has been around the net for about 3-4 years, I think... I've come across it at least 10 times so far)

Well, if it's been around so long, then maybe it's indisputable. But hey, if you find out anything to the contrary, let me know. Atleast some of that stuff sounds very believeable about Top fuel dragsters. I know for certain that not only does Nitromethane fuel cost $30 to $41 pergallon (depending on the purchased quantity) but the dragster engines run w/36-40 PSI of boost from their roots & twin screw type S/Cers!!!! And we think that Lidio's doing something w/his 13.5 PSI of boost!!
