View Full Version : How Many 2003-04 MM Survivors?

Hi,
I just bought a 2003 MM with 36k on it....it's nice as can be and I'm happy to be among others that appreciate this fine vehicle.
I realize that only 11056 vehicles were produced during the two model years , but curiosity has gotten the best of me. Between Civilian vehicles being crashed and the units that some Law Enforcement Agencies bought and beat the everlasting hound out of , How many do you guess or know to have actually survived to this point?
I know of two Law Enforcement Vehicles being up for auction somewhere in South Carolina , and another one is in the hands of the Richmond County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina. I was told the Richmond County car has in excess of 200k on it's odometer as of last week.

I did a search a found "Depreciation Graph" and a lot of opinions on future values , both nothing showing how many "Guess-Timatingly" have survived to date.
Thanks

Damn....That's Depressing unless you have a low mileage car and the ability to preserve it through time.
I have No desire to sell mine for any reason , as it's Not nor Never will be a daily driver.
Looking at the long term and taking into account the insights of other posters comments about Insurance Companies totaling out a car so easily these days....the only sure fire remedy or hedge against this is Classic Car Insurance at some point.
I have my 1972 Mach 1 , both 68 Torino GT Fastbacks and a 1968 Mercury Cyclone Fastback insured by Hagerty's , I'm sure that without a threat to move to my business to Grundy's or some other company , Hagerty would cover my Marauder with a Value that I assign to it.
Hagerty already covers my Tools and Automobilia in my garage on top of the cars...Home Owners Insurance covers the rest. I just hope I never need any of it.

To own one of the few thats left is a good thing for me. PRESERVE the legacy of this fine vehicle, learn as much as you can about it. And matter of fact, I would love to have a 69 or 70
I plan on keeping mine forever...will go to my oldest grandson when I think he is ready, he is 10 now.

Im doing what they made this car to do...DRIVE. there are plenty of guys out there saving them. Thats cool because thats their thing a d someone has to. I bought mine to have a really nice daily driver. I think thou that if you dont get a lil enjoyment out of it , its a big waste of a great automobile. For example way too many GNXs wasting away in garages. They are basically useless sitting that long. Buick wanted to go out with a bang and put all their knowhow into just so people could have 1:1 scale model cars. Out my 4cars my MM is only the 3rd rarest. 11,000 isnt a lot but in the age when people had the mindset to stick them away in garages its plenty. Its unlike the late 60s early 70s era.

I'd rather a Marauder in a barn than one that's driven until it's only fit for the junkyard. Just because they made 96,100 1968 Dodge Chargers doesn't forgive the Dukes of Hazzard producers from destroying 309 of them for a crappy TV show. I'm just sayin'...

I drive mine about 3-4 months out of the year. It's strictly a summer car.

Before that I drove a 60s nova as a daily driver during the summer time.

A MAJOR reason that car is popular as it today is because of that "crappy" show. Many of us who grew up in that era fell in love with cars because of that "crappy" show. 69 was the basis but they used and re-used 68-70 chargers. They werent ruining good car.. they were buying piles of junk. I know people like to think fondly of muscle cars but the truth is many of them were slant 6s and 318s. Thats goes for ALL platforms. A good bit of the muscle cars at any given cruise started as a small v8 or even a 6.
As for marauders in barns..like i said, that cool that some people save them for historical pirposes. Im also an olds man..my nameplate is dead too. To me thou the marauder just says please drive me all over creation. Ive had mine less than month but ive had a dozen people ask me how it drives, how does it feel.... its a drivers car. Stick shelby cobras in a garage.

No it didn't. There was only one convertible concept car built IIRC from the 2002 line. It carried an experimental/non-registerable VIN and it did not have a working top.

I love to drive awesome cars every day.
My daily driver at home in Fresno is my 2013 Charger SRT8 with 11,500 miles. :bows:
When at my Las Vegas/Henderson home the daily driver is my 03 Blk MM with 39,000 miles.
Life is too short to drink cheap wine or drive uninspiring crappy cars. :banana2:
I will drive the SRT8 or the MM every day until one of us keels over and dies.
