Wondering if anybody has ever took the big step in doing this? I know most ppl will never do this since it can be very costly and requires a frame specialist to do this. I just can't seem to find somebody local that knows how to do this kinda stuff.
My frame has a bit of rust under the evapator core from condensation leaking only when the a/c is on. There's still some rust on other parts of the frame too.
Looks like Ford still makes or has the oem MM frame in their part system.

If your going to go thru the process of separating the body from the chassis, I'd sandblast, bead or soda blast the frame then power coat or POR-15 it with a good top coat of chassis paint.

If you use POR-15 there is no need for a top coat of paint, that's like toping off a tank of C 16 race gas with 87 octane no lead!

Au contraire mon ami!
Got this from this website: http://por15bc.com/por-15.htm
"POR-15 is UV sensitive. The chemical that gives paint it's ultra-violet protection causes a slight weakness in paint and it is for this reason it is not present in Por-15. If the painted surface is in direct exposure to the sun it must be top coated to retain its finish. You may use any type or solvent base of paint or fillers, except a clear to achieve this. The usual result of an unprotected finish exposed to the sun is a complete loss of color with no return of oxidation. Ask your Por-15 distributor or dealer for information on our extensive line of incredibly tough, UV protected finish coatings."
I know it's going on a frame, but if your going to do the job why not do it right for a few bucks more?

There is a load of "body hours" involved in changing out a frame, it would be cool, but expensive.

POR -15 pr powder coat X2 - personally I'd stick with the POR cheaper and easier.

I hadn't heard of any problems with the frames for these cars. My 79 has surface rust on the frame from the many years but is as solid as a rock still. Unless you're going for the mirrors underneath at car show why even worry???
