Need advice on Install shop in NW Houston for DR Stage 1 kit. Also, what do you suggest I make sure to tell the mechanic (to be sure of, etc.).

I live near 249 and Beltway 8.

Thanks very much.

Tim

Hey, I'm up for something like that. I'm up in Lufkin, but I get down to Houston often. I"d be guessing there'd be more than one Marauder at Fun Ford Weekend, right? I'm planning on being there. Maybe that would be a good time?

Try Strictly Performance over near Hobby Airport. They are familiar with MM's since they have one that they work on and run at races. www.strictlypro.com

I'm ready for a get together, too.

Thanks Ross. I'll check them out...

Name the place and date for an H-town get together, and I'll be there.

So- Did you get it done yet? Who did it? Is it great?

I just ordered mine today. Can't wait to get it in.

Houston high performance did the gear change on mine. They where good, they mainly do Mustangs, but a couple of guy's have used them for our cars.

They are on SH249 just inside the beltway. The second set of lights headed south, make a left then an immediate right behind a gas station.

Have you checked with Wes Chain at Innovative Interceptors?

how did it go?

Dead Vic,

Sorry for delay in response. I picked up my car from the shop a week ago Monday and the next day I split for a long weekend in Europe. Just returned last night.

I must say now after just a small amount of driving that I have mixed feelings, not about the job (about $460 by the way), but about the effect the Stage 1 with tuner has had on my vehicle.

I had read about many of these effects ahead of time on the board so I should not be surprised, but here it is:

1) not really as much instant pick up as would have liked. Still needs to wind up the RPM before you start to go-go.

2) engine RPM at 70+ mph is much higher than before, and feels/sounds like it needs to switch gears. Someone on the board has mentioned that this goes away at ~ 90 mph, but frankly I never go that fast.

3) shifting to second under WOT is not smooth at all, gives the feeling of a misshift. That said it feels to being going quicker faster than before.

Have no idea if the economy setting on the tuner will help, or maybe time (i.e. more miles), or maybe something else. For now I'm just thinking I should have kept my old gears just in case I wanted to reinstall at some future date.

With this post I'm sure to get ragged out by a bunch of guys, but as a total novice I'm just calling it as I see it.

Good luck going forward. Let me know once you've gone thru with it yourself.

Best regards, Tim

You don't say how many miles you've got on yours, but mine didn't really start to "grunt" from a dead stop until I had about 8500 on it. The I put the nitrous on and, oh well, you know.....it's been all crazy since.

I got my stage 1 kit last week and had install this past saturday at strictly performance down near Hobby Airport.

my cost was a little less and they had me in and out in about two hours.

FOr the money I think this is a very good mod. After it shifts to 3rd at 80MPH I find the acceleration to be sluggish. A few more HP is in order. So, next with be the FIPK or similiar and some exhaust.

I personally like the hard shifts. The WOT shift at 80 IS very hard. The car feels like it is twisting it is so hard.

overall a big thumbs up.

Dead Vic, glad you liked the guys at Strictly Performance. They have done good work for me on the couple of small jobs I have had them do. Now if I could just find time to get my DR exhaust put on!
