I am considering having a set of rear wheels widened and putting rear "drag radials" on.

My situtation is the track is an hour and 15 minutes from my house.

I would like to purchase "drag radials" that would also allow me to drive the hour and 15 minutes to/from the track and if necessary the next day around town if I am too tired to change them out. It also rains a lot where I live so they would need to have the ability to drain some water for short limited drives.

Does anyone have a "drag radial" or a sticky tire they can reccomend that fits this criteria?

Best on the market today are the Nitto and BFG drag radials, but be careful when checking specs at web sites. Both companies also make performance tires in the same sizes, and with similar names, i.e. The Nitto 555 Extreme is very silimar to the Nitto 555 R, the drag radial. There's also a new version of the BFG that Zack ran a few weeks ago at US 41...This drag radial is hot.

Driving in the rain on a drag radial is your choice, I wouldn't do it unless I was caught in the rain, and I'd be very careful then. These tires perform well as drag radial because they have limited treads, and tread depth is shaved to 6/32. They will hydroplane 3X sooner than the average tire. Study those tread patterns closely on the 'net, you'll see what I mean.

Here is just a little input from someone with no track experience. I see that you are still NA, although with some really good mods. So you probably don't need as serious a tire as a SC car would need. When I had my OEM tires, I could light them up from a dead punch with no problem. When I replaced my tires, I got the Pirelli P Zero Assymetrico in a bigger width all around. Now, I can almost never light up the tires from a dead punch. Since the car isn't any slower, I have to assume that the tires are giving me a lot better traction. If you want to look into a tire with better bite, but that you can drive every day, you might consider this option. Just my .02.
