OK, as I was washing the car today I noticed there was a chip in the windshield. But its cracked all the way through, just in that little chip though...Which means I'll have to replace...Do I have to go to Ford to get glass that has the Ford markings, or do most places like Safelite, etc...have the correct glass...

I have to replace mine due to weather stripping curling up in the corners. Local place quoted me $250 for an oem. Guess the original owner replaced it with a cheap aftermarket.

OEM glass is labeled Carlite, and is available from any glass shop. You just have to specify that you want it. Over the years I have found it far superior than aftermarket glass.

Exactly! Definitely get the oem glass. That safelite nonsense is half as thick and is literally designed to crack when a rock hits your windshield. I don't know how they get away with making replacement windshields. Its far from safe.

Last year I got an aftermarket windshield in my Marquis and it was absolutely horrible it looks now like a 10-year-old windshield.... It looks like I was behind a sand truck for thousand miles..lol

There are some suble differences between early '03 glass and later stuff. Not sure if you can get the early style any longer. Differences have to do with the dot matrix.
You could also see if the chip is repairable.

A place not 1 mile from me replaced mine years back, and did excellent work.
You need to specify Dot Matrix.
Mike.

Take just the center circle only and that's about what I have...and I know when it happened. I was behind a trunk with lawn equipment and couldn't get around or far enough back fro the pings...:mad::mad2::mad2:

get some of that bullseye fix-it stuff from Canadian tire and be done with it, Works great for chips like that.

A chip/crack that small can be repaired with resin injection, especially as it is not in line of sight.
When this is done the spot will all but disappear and the resin keeps the glass from cracking further.
For $75 you might delay permanently or for a quite a while the cost of replacement.
