I like the version by the Gentrys (1965) much better with all the drum rolls in it. Can't say that I ever heard or remember the Avanti's version (1963). Both of these came out when I was 13-15 years old.
Was able to remember 90% of the shows that were used for the Gentry's video. :o

The lead singer of the Gentrys was Jimmy "Mouth Of The South" Hart, who later became a famous wrestler and at one time managed Jerry Lawler, the king of Memphis wrestling. He didn't sing on that song, though, instead letting their guitarist handle those vocals. (I think Jimmy Hart did lip-sync when this song was 'performed' on TV)
That song was actually so short, that the single was just the same song looped over again.

I always thought the Bay City Rollers' version of that song sucked pretty bad.

The Boss Martians do a cooler version on one of their singles from the Dionysus label.
