My pristine Merc got hit

Hi folks
What a sad day for.
My Merc got hit this morning at a safe way parking lot. :'(
I went in to get some groceries and some idiot hit it and left no note. It got hit on the front left. Side light broke
Fender and bumper are hit bad and the hood got pulled up.
I have phone pictures but not sure how to post.
I hate people that have no respect to other people's cars

Also fill out a police report. Your insurance company will required it.

+1 on: The Insurance Company, filing a Police Report and checking the security cameras.

That sounds like a BAD hit! How fast could he have been going to do that much damage that you are worried the car would be totalled? I would definitely be looking at getting my hands on the security camera. Good luck!

Ask Safeway for the video tape of the lot, many have them. They may even help you or pay for the damage if they don't have video of the incident - since it occurred on their property. Actually I wouldn't have moved it an inch until police, and Safeway store manager saw it etc.

Hood and fender and I believe the drivers headlight/blinker light are still availible from Ford. The bumper cover may just pop back into its natural form when it is removed.

Definately repairable.

People suck. Someone hit the corner of my rear bumper a while ago. (In my parking lot) Easy fix.

This looks a little worse, but fixable.

Did the bump trigger your alarm? Im curious as to what it would take to set it off. Also you could put out a notice to see if there were any witnesses. Im sure someone had to have heard or seen what happened.

i feel your pain my man. back in 2012 some dirt bag in a cobalt was texting on her phone and killed my 2009 OCA nats first place car. over $6 grand in damage (mostly because she hurt big ticket items like the grills) . Big ups to haggerty. her car looked like she hit a telephone pole lol. i saved it too. would been much worse if not for my duke boy skills. infact i avoided her and skidded to a halt and she kept coming and actually accelerated into me. i had a right away through an intersection and she tried to beat me. bright sunny may sunday afternoon. :(

Good luck with it. Mine is no show winner but I hate it when people even park near me. And you can bet money that every Joe Dirt always pulls up right next to it in his rusty 82 TA.

Hope your insurance is better than here, damage like that would probably mean a write-off. Just because of the year the car is.

Well guys here is the update. Progressive called me and said since that was a not at fault accident my rates will not go up.
Since it Friday they will not be able to look at it till monday

Oh yea, that is far from being totaled...

****ing *******s. My dad's pristine Roush was backed into by an 18 wheeler lost in a parking lot. Smashed in the rear quarter panel. They didn't leave a note because the driver claims he "didn't see it". He was tracked down because someone saw it and wrote the plate down of the truck and left all that info and their number as a witness on a note.

Sucks to hear this Sam but I doubt it will be a total loss. And even if it was it doesn't look like too much work to get it back on the road.

who ever hit your Marauder and took off was probably afraid you'd kill him if he waited for you or left a note.....my Ford conversion van was nailed in the side while parked on the street.....went to police station and filed a report....notified my insurance company the next day.....a few days later a guy from the insurance company shows up and writes the estimate....then he tells me since I filed a police report, I wouldn't have to pay the $500 deductible.....WHAT!!! never heard of that before....Insurance company is ROCKFORD....good luck to you

Must be something in the air...First time in 10 years of ownership about 2 months ago, I'm actually sitting in my blue with the engine off way out in the end of the a parking lot and a teen girl (having a bad day) on her phone backs up 45 feet and into the front bumper. Just ended up tearing the license plate holder and putting cracks in the paint. We had same insurance company so they gave me a check to repaint the bumper after removing it to check all the under pinnings.

Then 2 weeks ago I take it to neighborhood pub. I always park away from everthing, but this time the only space open is near the front door. I come out an hour later and some probably buzzed idiot had backed out of the opposite side spaces and into the center of the rear bumper. No note, just gone. This time it cracked all the paint in a 12" section and now the clear is flaking off. Car has never been repainted or hit ever..

I hate inconsiderate people.

I am surely sorry to hear your (and others') stories about our cars...I have my own too and even though I park away from all other vehicles when I do get the DTR out, just last week in the local grocery, I had to run to catch an errant grocery cart headed right at my MM...this when I was at least five parking places from any other vehicle. IDIOTS!
