I've always wondered, if it were in front of the axle, and there were to occur a high-impact crash...wouldn't the axle damage the fuel tank and cause a leak and/or explosion? I mean, at those speeds, I don't think it's very helpful.

If only people turned their panthers around before the :shot:

Out of curiosity, did any one of those morons who actually blamed the Crown Vic for being defective ever realize how much a Ford F350 Dually can weigh? Seriously, anytime one of those trucks rear ends you at highway speeds, you better pray, repent, and pray some more. An F350 Dually with the Powerstroke diesel engine can weigh as much as 7700lbs. Can you imagine how much energy is in a 75mph collision with a 6500-7700 pickup truck with an incredibly rigid frame............
