I have a 2003 MM ( Black with the Charcoal Interior.)

Car is #6114 of the 7838 built in 2003.

I have purchased the Certificate from Ford Performance Group and by providing my VIN # , this is how I know it's #6114 by virtue of the call I placed to them.

I placed my Certificate Order over two weeks ago and it still hasn't arrived yet. No Biggee , but I'm still shy on some details , Obviously.

Can anyone tell me by being line production number knowledgable if my car is a 300A or a 300B?

If you have things like traction control and heated seats its a 300b

Pretty sure that you have an '03 300B Marauder. Your build number puts you somewhere in the late November - early December 2002 timeframe. The switch from 300A to 300B happened between late September - mid October 2002.

You should have Traction Control (with a TC button on the dash), you have a manual fuel door with a finger notch (as opposed to no notch with an auto-release button), no separate in dash clock in the dash trim, and a donut type spare (instead of a full sized tire and wheel).

The rest of the 300A vs. 300B differences are here >>>> http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=31102

Mine is #5144 and has a build date of September 24. It is definately a 300A. I've heard some stories about change over builds with some charateristics of both A's & B's, but mine has none of those, it's 100% an A car. The change over likely happened in October. I'd be curious to know the number of the last 300A...anybody know?

Just to be clear, everyone, I need complete and FORD-CERTIFIED information, straight from the certificate (or phonecall, if you decide not to buy the certificate). This means VIN, ext/int color, color sequence, build date...

ADAM,

I got an e-mail from the Ford Performance Group stating that my Certificate was mailed out yesterday. Expect to get my info shortly there after..

Yes, it does appear that you have one of the changeover cars with a mix of 300A and 300B features. Even more interesting is the sequence numbering. It appears that your car was built right around the time that other colors were being introduced and that only 2 other color cars were built before yours.

Anybody out there have a Blue or Silver MM that was built on or before 2 December 2002??

The adjustable pedal feature does not factor into the 300A vs. 300B discussion because they were standard on both versions.

Member "2003_MM_FYRE49" has one of the 300A/300B changeover cars that had a mix of A/B features and was built on 11/11/2002. His sequence number was 5,945 of 7,838 in the 2003 model year.

So, it is pretty safe to assume that ABOUT 5,500 of the first year's production run were 300As.

Can anyone get a closer number than that ?? :dunno:

As I recall, you have Traction Control so there is a really good chance that yours is one of the very first 2003 MM 300Bs made. Based on your sequence numbers, it looks like only 2 other color cars were built before yours.

From the numbers so far, it looks like 80% of the Black MMs in 2003 were 300As. Somewhere around 5900-5950.
