Ok, so, I want to go to the track this weekend and waste the rest of my stock BFG's and have some fun.:burnout: When I went the first time, ya'll gave me a lot of good advice, like, having it in "Drive" with the TC off and OD off. However, I remembered a couple things that I need clarification on. When I had it in "Drive", the trans was shifting from 1st to 2nd and I never really got any good smoke (maybe, I let off too early :dunno:). If I stayed in it, wouldn't it shift into 3rd too? Is it best to just "floor it" while doing your burnout or try to control it by using the throttle?

if you dont want it shifting gears on you just put it in first gear manually..

I've never shifted during a burnout ever, even in drive

You don't need to mat the throttle to get the tires sticky. Not too mention, if you warm up street tires too much, the rubber compound will release oils that cause them to be greasy and lose traction.

In the old days, that's how we used to do it, drop it in Low and hit it. Shift into "2" when you wanted it to shift. Since then, I only owned and hot-rodded stick shift cars. With all of today's technology on these automatics, I don't want to mess anything up.

When I was at the track in Nov, I was doing a burnout (smokeless :o) and the car shifted into second. Kinda caught me off guard, lol. So, I was just wondering if I hit it a little harder, will it go into third? Would I just shift manually? How does everyone else do a smokey burnout? :burnout:

That might be a problem since the last time I went down the track it had a bit of a traction issue on the 1-2 shift (got a little loose).

3rd gear burnout, letting off the line lock in second, rolling out into third where you see the lines shift a little. First gear never did last more than two seconds. :)

So far with the manual trans I've only done one 1st and 2nd burnout. It would have easily chewed thru 3rd no sweat but the smoke was utterly ridiculous so I rolled out of it.

Tips? If your just wanting to put on a show, run her on up to 3rd. You'll probably look like a tool, but most racers are there as they themselves at least at sometime in their life did the same damn thing anyways.. Mat that ****!

Wow. I just noticed something. Blow up that pic and look at where I nail third. That Jmod REALLY kicked in 3rd! LMAO!

Start your burnout in 2nd gear, and it will not up shift!

And smoke your OD band at the same time..

If you want to do this while being Only NA, then you have to do it right!

That's what I am talking about! So, I guess, just roll out of the water and nail it and let the car do its thing. Sounds like that should get me a nice smoky burnout like the last two pics, even if it does shift into third! :burnout: :burnout:

LJI372 said I wouldn't do a 15 second burnout before my run.... so I timed it with the iphone...

Best run of the night. Great advice.

IT helps to have a line lock installed but you should do well with Pre-loading the brakes.

You guys doing burnouts at the strip need to also post up wether you're using street tires or race tires. With street tires, avoid the water box and do a light burnout, just enough to clean them off and warm them up a bit. With good track prep, you'll get decent traction.

This is on Drag radials. I'm in the learning phase also so I watch this to learn and Jeff is one of the best at driving. The only thing that sucked was the tires wouldn't hook worth a crap that night. Track sucked and the car blew through the tires. The last run we had dropped pressure down to 12, which is very low, and it ran it's best time.

Thanks for all the posts and videos! Great stuff! Keep in mind, though, my purpose for this particular situation is to waste the rest of my BFG's and get a couple good pics &/or video of the Marauder smokin' the tires, not for the best times.

Keep 'em comin'! :burnout:

Oh... I'd pour bleach on the rears and do brake stands and donuts in a parking lot somewhere if it were me. :D
