Noticed the same thing.lol. There was a pretty good re-enactment done with modern versions on TV a couple years ago. Can't remember the show(Alcatraz?) but it was a girl detective in McQueens role and the bad guys in a Charger racing around SF.

Standard tire sizes on the 1968 Charger R/T (both 426 and 440 cid) were the F70-14s. Not much rubber to hold the corners.
For comparison, the F70-14 is equivalent to a 211/70/14. Same with the high 70 profile. Although at the time, the 8.3 inch tire was wider than most others that usually ran 7.75 (197 mm) or 8.25 (210 mm) inches. The big Caddys, Buicks, and Chryslers got 9.25 inch tires generally on 15 inch rims. 14s were standard on most cars except for compacts like the Mercury Comet or Ford Falcon that wore 13/6.50s (about 165 mm width).

The Charger's thick framed glasses wearing driver was a nice touch. Also the driving gloves
sent from a Samsung Galaxy far far away..

That was pretty cool always like that movie. The classic added touches were cool.

Here's the Alcatraz TV show remake:
Much more accurate re-creation in this ^^^^ one .... except for the ending that cut it short by a good amount. That girl/woman is one heck of a driver who would have competed well against Steve McQueen in a side-by-side split screen version.

Cool recreation...especially for a TV show!
Only a few issues with that clip....
1: Wrong color Mustang
2: No body damage at all to the Mustang.
3: Charger needed to run off the road and explode!

It is a pretty good recreation. The issue I had with her scenes is that she is using 2 hands on the wheel. Driving like that with a manual trans I would think would be a one handed operation. Not her fault though director dropped the ball.

When they did the panic stop near the taxi, the girl was matched exactly with Steve McQueen on all her moves.

Cool tribute, the blurry shots of "McQueen" actually kinda looked like him. No white Firebird in multiple shots like the original though, not one single wheel cover on the Charger gone astray, and the Mustang didn't have a single dent in it haha. Also, isn't the Charger supposed to hit the camera when it takes one corner a little wide?
