1117 and 1290. P1117 ECT Sensor Intermittent is for a cylinder head temp sensor low 1290 also relates to cylinder head temp sensor low input. I will change out drivers side sensor tomorrow. Also I just installed the motor and am still having to turn it over several times and give it gas to start ? Could this be some air in the line or related to the reading at temp sensor, fan runs at startup while cold.

Did you happen to reverse the two COT sensors? IIRC, it's the passenger side that tells the PCM the temp, therefor turning on the fan, and yes, if bad and not reading within 5* the same as the IAT at cold start, it will affect starting. The drivers side is for the gauge.
They are two different sensors, don't listen to what the auto part stores tell you.

If the car starts, you have the air out of the fuel lines.
But if you need to encourage it to start with the gas pedal, the reading from the MAF might be off. It needs to be logged at idle to see where to tune the MAF more accurately. Once the engine knows how much air is actually coming in, it should fire right up.

I bought the car a year ago and the first thing I seen was the COT was rotten so I ordered a used one off eBay, this is what is in the engine now with the sensors it came with, I left them in but I have the 2 that were in my old cot to swap with. I read up on old post on the forum and I got 2 different setups. 1 with the drivers side inputting into the PCM and 1 with the passengers side feeding the pcm, I rechecked the connectors and they were tight but noticed that the D side felt broke between the connector and the brass fitting (spins free vs being solid or tight as a unit), I figured to swap this one out from my original cot tomorrow. Hoping this will have a cure on startup problem so I can take it out and run it with a medium throttle.

Definitely a sensor problem.

Data log with my Sct @ idle ? I'll try tomorrow after I change out the temp sensors

:bows:Just as Bob said the sensors were switched. never took them off of the cot I had bought and the connectors went right on even though they were different, The pass side sensor connector has a center rib on top and the probe on the end is round, and the d side has one riboff center on the connector and a pointed probe. Topped off coolant and turned the key over and it started without feathering the throttle. thanks for the input guys !!
