My Mom came down to Georgia from New York this weekend, so we were taking her to the Ritz-Carlton in Atlanta to celebrate.
My wife suggested that we take the Poverty Wagon I built for this year's Power Tour and that we valet park it as well.
The valets went nuts and loved the car.

Thanks Roger.
My Mom and I are close. She is battling cancer and has not been able to come visit for some time, which is why I make so many trips to New York. She is still hanging in there and I do believe that her ability to laugh at this trip to the Ritz explains why she has been able to keep chugging along even though her doctors said that she couldn't. What do they know anyway???

Very Cool Marty ! Sounds like your mom is a strong woman and she's still teaching you that you can be sick, but you can still get up and spend time with family and friends . Glad you got to celebrate with her. By the way I am looking for an older poverty wagon,! Keep your eyes out for one

All very wise words!
I was lucky. I had my "moments" and "phases" with my folks and they weren't afraid to kick me in the butt to keep me moving in the right direction, but every day I appreciate what I learned from my folks. Every day!

Although I didn't think so at the time I came to realize that it was an advantage to be raised by parents that grew up during the depression. They knew the meaning of "tough love".

Exactly this.
I describe it like this.
When I was 17 my dad wasn't very smart. When I was 27 my dad started seeming smarter. At 37, I realized he was brilliant. When I was 38 and lost my Dad, I realized I just lost the smartest friend I ever had.

Very nice story Marty. My mother turns 79 the fifth of next month. She is doing well and hope yours continues to fight the good fight and you get to spend many more years together.
