I looked at a 2012 R-spec once and wanted it but not for $50k. lol

The 5.0 has 420hp and 383tq mated to an 8-speed.

As I understand it from the Hyundai forums the early 5L had a mystery oil consumption issue. I'm sure it's been resolved by now but might want to look into it before laying out your dough. Other than that it's a monster and has a big following and parts are available too!lol

My friend who works in the field remarked at how expensive the eletrical components in those cars are - he told me some insane price just for the radio!

The rumor mill is they will combine v8 with awd. That will be a smack in the face to Taurus.

Still can't figure out why Ford won't do a small ecoboost v8 for their big trucks and maybe 1 muscle car. In the middle of a 2014 e-350 v10 purchase so I know of what I speak. Perhaps something like the genesis has to eat their lunch before they stop homogenizing every American entry with what fly's in France and Malaysia.

I mean who the **** would want a manvan in 9 dollar a gallon france. Who WOULDN'T want one in 4 dollar a gallon USA.

The new genesis sedan looks like it has an identity crisis. Something like an Audi, Chrysler 300 and a kia optima all put together.

If I were going to spend $50,000+ on a 5.0L V8 powered vehicle.....

it would be a 444 HP BOSS 302!...in Grabber Blue!....Thank you!

and I'd have left over money too!.....for Premium octane 92!

When the first r spec came out I took it for a drive. And holy crap it was a beast. I would buy one if they had awd. Very nice looking and great looking interior I think.

If I was spending $50k+ on a V8 powered vehicle, it would be a BMW E92 M3 in white with black wheels and manual transmission.

$50,000 and guess what you're still left with a Hyundai. For that money look elsewhere even a two or 3 year old certified pre owned Benz or BMW hell if you want super luxury get a pre owned Lexus LS 460.

The car would be for the wife/long trips with me behind the wheel. I have been in the V-6 (fast and a great ride) I am waiting for the V-8 to arrive in the D.C. area(they may have a V-8 Spec also by January) Lots of good reviews on You Tube. No great rush-they tell me prices to drop when other 2015 cars come along in the next several months(like the 2015 Nissan Maxima)

I've driven the V6, not the V8, but.... go drive a 5 series. The two cars are so far apart they're barely playing the same sport.

Trans cal/shift map on hyundai's 8 speed is pretty awful, and I found the lag on the electronic throttle to be inexcusably bad for something with luxury pretensions. Combining about a 1.5 second throttle lag with the need to downshift through 4-5 gears to accelerate on the highway means you've got to plan out passes and stuff well in advance, even though the car can go reasonably quick once it gets going. The interior was fairly nice, like most Hyundais, but I'm unsure how well it'd hold up 5-10 years down the road. I'm not necessarily anti-hyundai, but you can do WAY better for your money.
