The original Superbird was a larger car. I think this looks more like Superbird's little brother, although I'm sure it will out-accelerate, out-brake, and out-handle the original by a long shot.
You had me fooled by the thread title, Jim...I thought it was an official release from Chrysler, not some one-off.

I knew someone in the 70s in N.J. who owned two Birds. One of them I think had a 426 Hemi under the hood. These cars are amazing. Do you remember the Magna traction slot cars? These things stuck to the road as if they were glued down -they were powerful and very, very fast. In 1987 I found one in Hemmings it was custom painted black and silver - it had a 440 ci engine. I think it had the three carb deal - it was automatic. ( I prefer stick) The car was in Canada the seller wanted 10k - in American dollars it was only 8k. I made arrangements to fly up to Canada to get it. I was going to use money I had in the market to pay for for the car. So guess what happened? Yup, I got a visit from Murphy. I was busy with work I didn't withdraw the money that week. I decided to withdraw the funds later and then... bang the the market crashed. I took two major hits - the money and the car. This happened in October 87. I wonder where that black bird is? Damn that really hurt - I still feel the pain..

Respect the power, hate the shopping cart handles.

At high speed the cart handles provided downward force and directional stability.
I would trade the Merc and the Impal in a heartbeat for a Hemibird
It cracks me up when I see Honda' s etc with wings mounted
on them ---- popular in south Florida

I like the blue one. It looks very well done. And the color is perfect.

Oh Yes - Is it Auto or stick? Does it have 440 with six pack?
Is it all original?
