Prep'ed the car for going to the SAAC-MCR (Shelby American Automobile Club-Motor City Region) car show in Dearborn, MI - 01Jun.

In addition to the show-shine, did a few maintenance tasks - air filter change, set the tires' PSI to 35Lbs, etc. with the thought of - What kind of MPG does it still have in her? *Previous best was 30.2

Filled-up the tank to "1st click-off" and recorded gallons and miles (took 12.2 gallons) and zeroed the trip o'meter.

As per MapQuest|GoogleMap distance was "supposed" to be ~175 miles (one way), however, was closer to 200 because of highway closure and detour. NBD.

On the return trip home, decided to take a different (longer) route and swing-by the o' stomping grounds (Jackson, MI).

Info' bought *new* in 2002, now has 114,000 miles.
3.55 RAR
Marauder airbox and MAF (87octane dyno' tune done in 2004 - Team Ford in Atlanta, GA).
"to" ambient temp': 58°F
"from" ambient temp': 90°F (A/C -ON-)
99% of the trip was with the cruise control @ 75MPH (with a few sprints > 100+ ... damnedable Detroit traffic).
410.5 miles - round trip.
12.7 gallons of gasoline used (filled-up to "1st click-off").Result
32.3 MPG

HELL YA! Still got it and then some!

Then calculated the before the trip fuel mileage (99% stop-go/city driving) - 20.9 MPG

And Yes got a CLASS AWARD (1979+ FLM) *BEAUTIFUL! low mileage 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII got 1st.

Don't you mean IMP(erial) gallons? But NO, they're neither metric | IMP

The only way I can 'xplain it is that ... it was down-hill and with-the-wind both ways.
I turned-off the ignition and coasted ALOT!
AND ... I had some of that Cheech/Chong xmas magic dust.

Sure hope so. Had tentative plans for the BOC, however, things (and not of the good variety) came-up.

Still would like to move-back, however, due to Raleigh's and surronding communities' increasing development, may look in the Yanceyville, NC / Dansville, VA area. *Was scoping-out some property there previously.

Awesome numbers.

After installing the chin spoiler, I saw 29MPG on my MM on the hwy, when my MM was basically stock on a couple of 100mi trips to work.

Installed the Mach I chin spoiler in early 2004, however, I hadn't thought of it as a contributor to MPG. Hummmmm.....

babbage ... was it downhill both ways?
And "with the wind" ... don't forget that part.

No pic's. Not to say that there wasn't any cool cars, however, I had seen most of 'em previously. And no dis' to the new(er) Mustangs, Shelbys, etc. but when you see a row of 10-20 of 'em it kinda makes 'em not special.

The new-to-show that I liked were ... 1948 F-1 retro' rod - lowered, wide PTM steel rims with small chrome center caps, 347CI
Paul's Performance VERY VERY CLEAN 2003 race Cobra Terminator
