So I have decided that it's time I repair my A/C. I did my rear end job over the winter and everything is still holding up pretty well. So I think it's time to start my next adventure. I have had my Marauder for a year now and since I have had it I haven't had A/C and with this Black on Black Johnny Cash Special it gets quite hot as many of you are aware.:flamer: haha!
The problem as far as I can tell is the condenser. It has a nice crack in it from a previous accident. I noticed it when I bought a can of A/C recharge and it all came out from that spot. It appears the people that sold me the car replaced all the hoses and lines because none of them are MotorCraft brand anymore, but they left out the most important part "The broken Condenser." :dunno:
I just hope this isn't a project that is going to be too much to handle:confused:. I have a buddy that is going to help me that has worked on A/C systems a little in the past so that will be helpful.
Any words of wisdom anyone can offer on previous repairs in this area would be helpful:help:. Thanks guys and girls
Very easy fix. You might want to replace the dryer as long as the system will be open if you want to. Also, vacuum out the system and let sit for some time to verify no other leaks and to evacuate the system before re-filling it up. If you don't have a vacuum pump and manfold to do it, I believe Autozones and other places will lend them out.

Most replacement receiver/driers are aluminum, but check and make sure that is what you're getting. The OEM steel unit is well known to rust out after about 10 years give or take.

Thanks for all the tips. I will definitely check all these recommendations out. I was hesitant about the dryer but now I'm sure I'm replacing it, and yes my OEM one is quite rusty.

I've heard good things about the Four Seasons units.
Just had my AC recharged last night after the accumulator rotted away.
I did not replace the orifice tube, no *****s given
Works great!

For a few bucks and an o-ring it's cheap insurance. The orifice tube filters some of the c**p out of the system.

Just ordered the new four seasons dryer, a new motorcraft orifice tube, A used but tested and guarenteed condenser. All for under $100 on amazon. Now just to get up to the parts store and get the hose tool and the ring kit and I'll be good to start the job.

I just put that one in my 02 GM along with a condenser...ICE COLD now but my daughter took it back to college so I am forced to drive the F150 daily for now.

This is a late update but I got it all put in and had my A/C checked and charged and my mechanical abilities surprise me again.:party1: Holy He!! my air is colder than any Mercury or Crown Vic that I ever felt before.
