When I do a head swap in August I'm thinking of going with a new color for my Valve covers. I'm having a hard time deciding and wanting to make it pop a little more under the hood. Give me your opinion on what color you think would look best.
Change to Red?

I polished my heads before installing. I should have gone with the polished covers as well. I went with the blue. They look ok, but it isn't the same as polished!

i would stay away from a shiny under the hood. it's never clean enough.
black pvd sounds hot!!
but if your already black powder coat i don't think you'll see a huge difference imho
there are only 3 places in the country that do black pvd from my understanding and you have to use one of their distibutors.
fyi stay away from the ohio plant!
call detroit wheel in michigan
if you want a set done without the wait i can drop a set off for you ahead of your tear down and just send me yours after the work is done unless you have a spare set laying around

Some people have two jobs.
Some people have shiny engines they must clean daily.
Same difference......
except...
one brings money in, whereas, the other is a hole in the driveway you fill with your wallet!

I do not like the factory flat black at all. But Mike's (Louisville Mike) gloss black ones looked really good. Black chrome would probably be out standing. But what do I know. I like my Blue Oval Racing Wrinkle Blue ones. I have a set of 04 cam covers if you want to barrow them get them coated and send me your old ones. Maybe save some time.

Hydro dipping can put any thing you want on any thing... if the part can be dipped in water.

There are one or two shops nearby that do it but hydro dipping isn't cheap or terribly durable.

I believe they spray a clear coat over the design.

True but our experience is that durability is lacking.

silver, or gun metal gray , I'm in the boat
I'm also deciding on what color for the valve covers

I like it the way it is except the coil covers need more punch. Perhaps this is the only area that needs color. Looks terrific otherwise.
