This mod bug continues to bite me HARD!!!! :D

Well I'm getting pretty tired of that old smoky startup. The valve seals have been leaking for about a year and just done with it. So, spoke to Jeff, Marty, and Roger and we started discussing the best way to approach this. I was curious what it would take to refresh mine along with new springs, ported, polished, bronze guides and Viton seals. Jeff said the best way to go would be to find a set of heads and get done what we want and then install to minimize downtime. He found a set already done but the sold to fast. Then Roger hooked me up with a guy on SVTperformance and I ended up going with these. My plan is to install them in the fall.

Description:

Roush engineering was hired to design a proven cnc program for ford, to use as the frpp ported heads. They have a 14% flow increase on the intake port and 29% increase on the exhaust port, all done with a 5axis cnc.
The chamber work was designed for fords own factory fr500 port. There were 2 different programs written. The Frpp retail which has no chamber unshrouding and valve relief work, and another one for their actually race motors. When the intial first run was completed it was discovered roush had accidentally done full assemblies with the wrong program using the unreleased race port (chamber work) and I guess it was easier to just eat the run of parts rather than pay to tear them all down and start over. This is what I was told straight from the machinist at Yates when I picked them up.

They are 9 thread, 05 revised heads (the best casting) everything is brand new. 04cobra cams, springs valves. Completely assembled.

I ordered a set for my Boss 5.0 big bore build. They are shipping today! I can't wait to see them in person.

Chris! Make sure you cc the combustion chambers. Easy to do. Stock is 52cc. After I did mine, I measured every chamber and they all came out to 55cc. This lowers your compression ratio. You can raise it a bit by having them shaved. Then you need everything degreed too since the chains will have a tiny bit of extra slack taken up. :D

They came out at 56CC. :D

These would be a nice addition to a forged short block:cool:

How will the 04 Cobra cams and porting affect power compared to stock heads/cam Eaton Marauder?

just ball park idea? equally boosted stock heads/cams to these ported/Cobra cams?

If you are not running a lot of boost, you won't see much of a difference. Slight with the cam change, it would raise your peak rpms. At higher boost levels the porting and cam change makes a bigger difference. You boost pressure will actually drop a bit because you're able to fill the cylinders more easily.

Think these ported heads are really beyond Eaton street/Cobra cam/stock displacement engine compatibility?

What I struggle with, typically ported heads are advertised based on before/after flow charts.
The resulting low lift and peak flow numbers on intake/exhaust ports help an engine builder determine if they will match a given goal or combination.
I just keep reading: 'our heads flow great stock' and on these heads ' the port work looks amazing = buy them!'
From the head ad: "They have a 14% flow increase on the intake port and 29% increase on the exhaust port, all done with a 5axis cnc."
More flow than stock on the exhaust side will certainly help on a forced induction application.
Usually exhaust should flow within 85% of the intake for a balanced performance engine (N/A).
What if low lift flow numbers are the same or lower than on stock heads, and the flow increase is at .500" lift?
That won't help any motor I'd be building...see my point?
I'd like to see the flow data or know the intended application before spending the coin.

For those who haven't seen. Motor has been completely rebuilt. Bored 20 over, diamond Pistons(9:1 now),Manley rods, H Barings, SW headers, Crusher Intake, Roush/Yates CNC ported heads, and some cosmetic upgrades. It hits the road tomorrow for 500 mile break in period before changing the oil and slapping her on the tail with some dyno pulls.

Not trying to stir anything. Picts are seen easier on this link.
