Am I the only one cursed with never getting tires balanced correctly?

Everything was just fine until I noticed the ass end of the car a little shaky. I checked during the next wash and noticed the weight flew off...

Go back to the tire shop and have them done (free since its where I got my tires)

Still vibrates... was in a hurry and had to go straight home...
Go back again.... was in a hurry again, had my baby with me...
VIBRATES AGAIN ON THE WAY HOME!!!

I called the manager today since I had some time and took it in. He promised to calibrate the machine and make sure its all done by hand, no impacts. He takes it for a drive afterwords himself and says its good to go. (he's a friend so I'm okay with him driving it out of the shop) Brings it back and says its good to go.

Hitting the freeway heading home its nice and smooth at 75. About 5 miles later down the road the steering wheel starts vibrating again. Granted 90% of most people wouldn't even notice the vibration. But being a hard core gear head. I DO!

MOTHER ****ER GOD DAMN IT SON OF A *****!!!

I'm cursed.

Roadforce balanced?

Using the stick on weights, the wheel has to be very very clean.

You are not cursed, and not alone. I had the same issue with a tire distributor I've known and used for 30 years.

As our rims do not accept weights on the outside lip, they are much more difficult to balance.

After having this done 4 different times, I pulled I the owner aside and asked him, "WTF"

He pulled his best guy aside, and said, "White glove treatment, road force variance."

Wheel balancing machines cost around a $1000... Force Varience balancing machines run $2,600-$3,900.

The better machines will disperse wights in different places, both inside edge and out side edge to better balance the entire wheel.

Note: sometimes the machines are so good, they will indicate that the tire needs to be rotated on the wheel (deflated and spun on wheel) before a satisfactory balance can be achieved. You may have this issue.

Also, the better the machine, the smaller the metric unit of weight... 1/2 oz, vs 1/4 oz, vs I think .10 oz. so check how big each little weight section is.

I am not an expert here... So please, all, don't shred me for assisting.

From my experience with 8 wheels and 8 tires, it took the original 8 balances, and 4 more balances on the "force variance" machine to get it done. I stood and watched, and it was/is a much better, much more accurate process.

I could feel the difference in the driveway. You will too.

Good luck!

Nope your not the only one. I bought two new front tires before Louisville this year because I was dealing with a vibration for the past year! Guess what still vibrated! And I work for a tire company SMH. Finally dusted off the old road force balancer in the corner and plugged it in (we have two) and rebalanced has been fine for a while but am starting to feel a slight vibration again. Arghh!

Road Force is the only way to balance our tires. Tried it both ways and with the road force they are able to detect if the tire needs to be spun on the rim while it's still off the car. I won't do it any other way!

Just pisses me off I now have to go spend money somewhere else when you pay for that service as part of the tires.

I worked at a tire shop as a kid and I told the manager to please take the tire off the wheel and rotate it 180*. It was something we used to do before better equipment was out.

Seriously. I damn near told him to let me go out and do it...
