What do we do if we are going to make it for 1 or 2 events during one of the day possibly if we can get off work? Just pay for it when we get there if we make it or...?

As far as I understand the trip to down town Chicago may be the only thing that must be paid in advance which you can do when you register.

Sorry I missed this. Registration is required, whether you attend one, two or three days. In addition, if you want to join us for the City Tour, we have an additional fee for the day. The City Tour is all inclusive, from beginning to end. We are not able to have people jump in along the way. The City Tour registration has a cut-off date so we will not accept "walk-up" registrations for the tour. If you decide at the last minute to register on site, there is no guarantee we will have t-shirts and goodies bags. Pre-registration is important for head counts at every event.

Please don't wait until the last minute to sign up. Don't miss out on yet another great Marauderville. How can you resist meeting Steve Babcock and his two project managers - a first for any Marauderville or ANY Marauder meet.....EVER!!!

The City Tour (deadline Sept. 5) is a great introduction to a great city! If you've never been, here's a chance to leave the driving to the bus driver and take the City in! From the Lakefront to high above the City to delicious deep dish pizza, the Tour will be memorable!

AMEN SISTA!!!

An observation and some advice, FFIW....

Unfortunately I have to sit this one out, but I am quite familiar with all that goes into planning our annual national meet, Marauderville, having been part of the MVIX planning committee and attending past Maraudervilles. One thing I wonder as I read the MV threads is whether members understand what a huge undertaking it is to put one of these large, important events together. Do members realize that it is vital to the success of any Marauderville to register their intent to participate, and pay the nominal registration fee, whether they plan to participate in one or all of the daily planned activities, and how important it is for members living close to the event to support it, if at all possible. It won't work well to have members who haven't officially registered but decide to pop in on one event or another, so to speak, or plan to do other things instead of what the planners have worked hard to arrange.

An accurate head count, and payment for registration, are things that the planners of this event are counting on in order to figure costs and make arrangements at the various venues so that all goes smoothly and everyone can enjoy themselves. Even if you live close by or have seen and done some of the planned activities before, you haven't seen and done them as part of a group of Marauder enthusiasts, and you are missing out on a very unique and memorable experience if you don't jump in with both feet. So if you plan to participate in any of this year's Marauderville....I hope you will give it your full support and go get yourself a room at the host hotel, get registered and go have a hell of a time!

Alright Peeps -I just registered for MV 12 and paid up. If I can get it done with everything I have had going on there are no excuses not to get registered asap.

Now I keep hearing how things are so expensive .....really......are you kidding me-for Chicago?

$50 to go downtown Chicago and eat all the pizza you can plus hit the sites we have scheduled is a "No Brainer"!

So everyone that said that it is too expensive please show me another city where you can do everything we have planned on Thursday -plus your bus ride -and all you can eat pizza and soft drinks for that price@!

We have a discounted package for Volo so you are not paying full price and the Autobahn is really cheap. Those go karts go up to 60mph and they have a great track. We are getting the members price on that track -members pay an initial fee of $30,000 and then $4000 per year after and they still pay the same track rate that we will be paying.

Part of your $50 registration fee is going towards horse devours during the get together saturday night (which we did not have for Atlanta) and for trophy's and your t-shirt. I cant even go to Hooters and leave without spending $50 and I dam sure dont get a shirt!

Plus we have a casino 10 minutes from the hotel, car cruise or 25 other things you can do on Friday night. PEM even threw out a wine tasting or dinner. I believe that German restaurant that Zack, Rex and the gang went to is very close to the hotel?

Alot of options and alot of good times are planned. Hurry up and get signed up asap!

Let the good times roll :)

A reminder that the City Tour registration closes on Sept. 5 to allow the final stages of planning, including transportation. Don't miss out!!

Also, a reminder that to attend any event, including participation in the car show and parade lap at Autobahn and the Steve Babcock/Marauder Project Team talk, you must register for the event. We cannot accommodate drop-ins without registration. Whether you come for one, two or three days, the registration fee is the same. You'll receive a goody bag and t-shirt, along with participating in the scheduled events for the days you're attending. A lot of time and effort has gone into the planning and we want all Registrants to have a great time. Please don't procrastinate until it's too late!

No worries :D here is the gist of the events:

Wednesday -4 pm to 9 pm Welcome Registration (probably longer if the beer holds out :P)

Thursday -9:30 am meeting in the Lobby -bus leaves at 10 am -gone all day in Chicago (including dinner)- Bus arrives back at hotel at around 10 -11 PM). On your own for adult beverages at the hotel.

Friday -VOlO Car Museum -meet in hotel lobby around 9 am and then leave for Car museum. I think we are looking to head back around 4 pm or 5 pm. I know Paul was looking at maybe getting some people together for wine tasting or dinner -it is listed on Event brite so he can get a head count if you are interested - but Friday night you are on your own. We will have some directions for a local car cruise or rt 41 dragstrip or the local casino. On your own for adult beverages later at the hotel.

Saturday -8:30 Am meeting in Hotel lobby -9am leave to the Autobahn for the car show and go kart rides. They have two tracks their and I know one of them will be hosting some motorcycle races which should be pretty cool. This event you will have to be on the MV 12 list to get in as this is a private club and they have gates. We will need to give them a head count and then the money. They do have food and drinks at the track and we will be doing a couple of pace car controlled laps in our cars. The go-karts are bad ass and go up to 60mph.

Head back to hotel for awards, food and misc

Sunday -head home :)

This is going to be a heck of a party-dont miss it!

Confused a little on Volo? Estimated time of arrival around 10ish and heading back around 4-5 correct? Only ask because you can walk that entire place in under two hours. Awesome place no doubt, but 6-7 hours?

Which in return brings up Paul's winery plans and I thought White Fence Farm time slots. Where do they fit in? White Fence is an hour back with no stops at wineries.

If you are just waiting for head counts before finalizing any plans then please excuse my quandaries.

I just don't want to see this turn into people splitting from 12-5 and no real concrete plans, especially dinner. I understand there is always the few that go separate ways, I would just like to make the most out of the small amount of time in the company of out of town friends.

A little late obviously, but another unique museum is the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, IL (48 mins west of Volo) that could easily fill an afternoon on the cheap if there is low or no interest in a winery tour? Easy trip down 90 to head back towards White Fence for a good dinner.

That's exactly what Paul was doing when he offered some alternatives -trying to get a head count to see if anyone was interested in doing any of these things.

Normally at MV's the evenings are usually left up to the individual's to decide what they would like to do. Thursday is a full day that includes the evening and so is Saturday which is why we were not pushing a Friday night plan.

Paul was just throwing stuff out their (like you) to see if there was any interest in these events.

I know there would be no problem if a group would like to leave Volo and head over to check out the Rail museum. Is this something you could lead -a group to the railway museum? We could set a time and say at 1 or 2 pm we are leaving for the railway museum.

Let me know and maybe we can get some type of discount pricing if this is something people would like to do. I have been to both and they are really pretty awesome. :)

I would be more than happy to. I didn't even realize that admission is free that day!

I just left a message with them inquiring about costs on a steam engine ride as they don't have any engines operating that day except for groups/special occasions and let's face it, Marauder'ers are "special"... :P

I'll let you know. I just figured after Thursdays all day marauder less events some may not be bothered by putting on a few extra miles of smiles.

I'll be registering very soon, I'm just trying to iron out kids/school logistics. I may have to sit out on Thursdays trip and bring them along on Friday? Regardless I'll register soon Bud.

The order form is now on the home page to order t-shirts, along with the images of all the versions. If you want more than one t-shirt, you'll have to go through the order process again. Too complicated using the PayPal buttons to make multiple quantities, etc.

$25 including shipping. Shirts will be sent after the event ends in early October. Your shirts will be set aside so no worries.

You must pay in advance via the PayPal link to reserve your shirt.

Deadline is Sept. 7 as the order will be placed Sept. 8. If you are attending MV12 and want your car color as your t-shirt, you must also register by Sept. 7. Any registrations after Sept. 7 will get a black car on their t-shirt.

Looks to be a bust. The buildings are all closed that day and it would take a minimum $150 to get them to staff it and open the buildings up and bring out the electric engine for rides. All this on a Friday afternoon, traffic would be horrendous getting back to the hotel and just wear everyone out.

On top of that I don't want to disturb anything Paul is working on.

Hey justbob, we still have a little time left to sort thru for alternative things to do on Friday afternoon....when I spoke to the train museum people a long time ago, I was told just what has been said here....no admission that day, no trains running, but the grounds would be open....they didn't say that all the buildings would be closed....we should clarify exactly what they mean....any RR buffs would still enjoy themselves....I've participated in many of their past car shows when everything was up and running.....and I agree traffic from there back to Hampton Inn would be a bit %=;$#!$*^!.....BUT, if some of the group wants to go.....GO....:burnout:

HOLY :censor: BATMAN!!!!! We arrive at Volo about 10am and leave to "head back" about 4 or 5pm?????????????? Are we having a sleepover? That's way too much time.....justbob feels 2 hour is sufficient.....that's a quick pace for someone who has never been there, or is old like me.....their event co-ordinator said 3 to 4 hours is more realistic......lets say we depart Volo at about 1:30/2 o'clock....Lynfred Winery for casual wine tasting is in Roselle and is about half way back towards Hampton Inn....would probably take about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to satisfy our palettes with 7 wines for $9....depart for the Hampton Inn to freshen up, if so desired and "hop, skip and a burnout" to White Fence Farm for dinner, (nice family restaurant) which is approx. 15 minutes away from the Hampton Inn.....arrangements were made with both locations months ago, I just need headcounts to call them ahead of time on that day....You'll place dinner orders from their menu.....do one, do two, do neither, you are your own boss....you should arrive back at the Hampton Inn with plenty of free time to spare and enjoy your adult beverages, hug fests and :bs: stories......................

Anyway not sure I will make it due to tranny problem, now being built after it blew out seals and sprayed fluid all over bottom of car while I was about 100 miles from home heading to Alabama to see my sick elderly mom. Been back and forth to Alabama every month since Christmas except Jan, Feb & Aug so more than likely if I make a trip it will be to see her. I thought about coming since I do have a sister that lives in Chicago then drive to Alabama then back home to Texas but not sure if I can just show up, pay and join in. Car is roadworthy and been to Alabama since then. That was back in May but I had my totaled MM tranny put in while the other one was being built. Finally got to the point where I got back on site after not visiting & checking it for a while.

Paul, the website for the trains says in small print buildings not open that day. I left a message with them and three days later they returned the call and verified just that. We would have to raise the money needed to make it work and I don't even mind just paying it myself for all I care. I just don't want to see them bring in help and have only 5-6 guys show up. That would be quite embarrassing to say the least.

I'm liking your plans more and more. Problem is I'll probably have my youngsters all day so the winery is out. Not much of wine drinker anyways, I strongly stick to girlie fufu island drinks.

Please don't wait until the last minute to sign up. Headcounts are very important to the planning, including name tags and setting up goodie bags. Don't miss all the fun.

Important to note that you must be registered to get into the Autobahn Country Club. This facility is not open to the Public. Also, registration is required to attend Steve Babcock's chat Saturday night. The Team has worked hard to put a nice event together for those that register.
