I hear the term "trillion dollars" tossed around a lot, so I figured I would find out what it really looks like. I did a quick Google search and I was shocked. Look for here:

http://www.pagetutor.com/trillion/index.html

and I thought of this right after looking at the link.

Thanks Chris. That really puts it in perspective. :)

I only hear "Trillion" in reference to the Federal Budget and the Federal Debt.

President Obama's 2014 budget submission was for $3.77 Trillion (Expenditures) and $3.03 Trillion (Revenue). That shows deficit spending of $0.74 Trillion (... or 3/4 of that last football field sized pile of double stacked pallets). It also shows that the Obama Administration is spending 24% more than it takes in in taxes for this year alone. Try doing that year after year with your paycheck.

The current Federal Debt is $18.23 Trillion (about 18 football field sized piles of $1.0 Trillion) and growing every year that the Feds spend more that they take in in taxes. Stop digging the whole deeper. There's only two possible solutions. Cut back on spending or increase taxes. Even if they raised taxes 24%, we would just break even with the current rate of spending. Taxes would have to be raised 30%, 40% or even 50% more than current rates in order to climb out of the hole that has already been dug so far. Why doesn't BHO understand this problem ??? Spending more of what you don't have is not the answer and spells bankruptcy and failure on a personal or corporate level.

The Federal Debt is now at 107% of the entire US Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Disaster looms ahead; but our leaders happily bounce along fundraising for the next election cycle ..... sort of reminds me of the passengers on the Titanic. :(

I'd be happy with just the paper bag filled with cash and leave the pallets for someone more ambitious:rolleyes:

"February 7, 2013

(CNSNews.com) - So far this calendar year, the Federal Reserve has bought up more U.S. government debt than the U.S. Treasury has issued.

On Dec. 31, the total debt of the U.S. government was $16.4327 trillion and then-Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner announced that the government had hit what was then the legal debt limit. Last week, however, Congress enacted a law to suspend the federal government debt limit until May 18, 2013, and allow the administration to resume increasing the debt.

By the close of business on Wednesday, Feb. 6, according to the U.S. Treasury, the total federal debt had climbed to $16.4799 trillion—an increase of $47.2 billion for the calendar year.

At the close of business on Jan. 2, the Federal Reserve had owned $1.661 trillion in U.S. Treasury securities. By the close of business on Feb. 6, it owned $1.7172 trillion—an increase of $51.1 billion for the calendar year.

Thus, the Federal Reserve’s purchases of U.S. government debt in this calendar year have exceeded the Treasury’s net debt issues by about $3.9 billion."

Why, interest rates. The interest rate for the printed money is half what non-printed money costs.

Yep, the Federal Reserve is printing money and giving it to the Federal Gov't.

The only "real money" is the interest rate the tax payer pays.

Our National Gov't Debt per capita is 45% greater than Greece, greater than Italy, greater than Portugal and greater than Spain, a/k/a "The PIGS". Unlike us they as EU members cannot print money.

No worries its all printed money!!! Free, free, free.

If they're just going to print the stuff up and throw it around, I wish they'd throw some over here.

Remember when the Gov't and "smart people" proposed minting Trillion Dollar Coins to pay off the Debt to enable more Debt?

Well, I have an even "smarter" idea, mint the Infinity Dollar! Give one to every single person and no more wanting for anything. We will have finally achieved true equality and fairness. Paradise is merely an Infinity Dollar Coin away. The wealthiest country in the history of man can afford the minting cost. Do it!

An Infinity Dollar Coin is a great idea ! because it will be much easier to carry than that big load of $100 bills on pallets.

But wait, what if some guy figures out a way to get TWO Infinity Dollars ? ! Then we're right back where we started ! Bah.

I, too, have seen this illustration and explanation before. I think it's really is scary how few people know exactly what it does when we print bunches of useless, non-backed money. Especially people in my generation. Just a bunch of sheep, ain't got barely a clue about anything within the gov't, what a "bailout" really means, etc....

Don't worry though! If we print some more money, it will give us even MORE money to spend and keep us away from that scary debt ceiling! Yay paper!...errr, I mean MONEY!!!!
