I'd love to own one. Like ^^ said, I hope the computer doesn't break. He never mentioned any type of warranty when Jay mentioned the 90 day warranty on the old challenger.

On the Boss 302 for instance, their "track key" once used, shortened the drivetrain warranty from 5 year/60,000 mile to 3 year/36,000 mile.

I think the 2015 Mustang with it's line loc feature migth have similiar situation, but I am not sure..I thought I read it that use will shorten warranty period.

I wonder if you could get an extended warranty through Chrysler?

So, you wouldn't modify it?

Would there really be a reason to? lol

The real problem will be that the PCM coding will be locked.

I think I am in love. Having all the gauges already in there is very useful, including the AF ratio. Electronic exhaust valves also a nice feature to quiet it down. Brembo 6 piston brakes and a quick shifting 8-speed auto - the car has what I like. God help us all when the computers fail though...

It would be interesting to see what Ford counters with and how long it will take them!

Meh... locked is relative... Just need a development ECU and access to their cal database... hmmmm wonder if I know anyone who has that... he he he

Wondering when they will be able to sell them... from my understanding they are still trying to jump a certification hurdle. I hope they get them out soon, they sound lovely at WOT.

I'm with Joe. I think I love it. Even though I don't see myself being able to afford one anytime soon. I wouldn't touch or modify a thing. For what????

My buddy just bought an '06 300c SRT8. That thing feels strong itself.

There really isn't a reason to touch anything on it besides maybe running a different tire and something with the exhaust. With Street/Sport/Track selection changing stuff with engine tuning, transmission shifting, suspension and 707hp/650tq (at the flywheel) it will be fun and exciting right off the dealership lot.

I just want to know what it will do on the Ring!

4400 lbs is a lot of weight to be slinging around on a track. May be slower in the corners but easily made up on the straight aways. Then you can brake late with the 15" 6 piston brembos..

I'm not a road course driver but I am hell in Grand Tourismo.

I wonder how much of a diet it could be put on.

I think the car handles like a 3000lb car... So it's a good starting point. I was shocked to be honest with the handling when I drove it around the 5 mile oval alone. 100+mph felt like 50mph to me. Always liked that in some of the luxury cars I've worked on, didn't expect that out of this monster tho!

Still a 4400 lb curb weight PLUS driver and the weight wasn't noted as dry or wet. The 275 series tire might not be enough for it to handle as well as it could.

The Z/28 comes with 305 series tires which is matched properly for it.

Agreed the 275 series tire is not enough for this car for handling, however this car is mainly a hp war / straight line winner.

From my understanding a 275 was the widest they could go with current body.

In reading ,through the years GM has been consistant with making good handling cars .Hell ,back in the 60's rear sway bars were installed on certain models and Pontiac was at the head of the class..:cool4:

Yep 4,400 lbs is a pig...
but 707 HP can move any pig quickly.

The problem is those puny tires that they put under the wheel wells.
275s look totally lost on that huge ponycar!
Anytime that I am following a Challenger I shake my head :shake: ...
because it looks like an elephant on roller skates.

I'm curious as to what the insurance premiums would cost.

71cyclone
11-26-2014, 01:11 PM
"PREMIUM" : 6 month Plan will do. $$$$ most people will use Multi car discount plan, The Cat will be most likely the second or third car ,not the daily driver.

Bently [VW ] all ready proved that you can get a 600 hp, pig moving.

This car has more punch than Dodge is claiming. Probably in the 740-50 range conservatively based on RWHP numbers that have been posted

the Challenger is one of the most expensive cars to insure - clearly statistics prove its stolen, damaged, etc more than most. I checked into insuring an SRT8 before deciding on rebuilding the MM. The yearly increase in insurance was crazy.

I'll give USAS a call tomorrow, I forgot to factor in that big cost. I'm sure they'll be ridiculous :bigcry:
