I knew it would happen one day. It was just a matter of time.
After 12 years and 9 months of faithful service its end-of-life happened today (06Aug2014). The telltale click, click, click, click, click when the key was turned harbingered its fate. The 130 cranking amps confimed it.
And even though the AAA jump-start guy said "It looks brand-new!" it was time. Had to euthanize the original, factory installed Motorcraft battery.
*sniff* Could I get a moment of silence please ... Like that of the non-running engine or the radio/CD-player that no longer filled the cabin with melodic noise or ... :bigcry:
Don't worry ... I'll be fine. :depress:

I was scared for a second.
Get a new battery from Home Depot. They are about 60 bucks less than anywhere else with warranty!

The car needs a battery, not an engine.

I'll give you $8 for the car...as long as it has the original floor mats.

Tightwad. Just because you could did not mean you should have waited that long. You are replacing it with another Motorcraft battery right.

Did ya ever just see how long something would last? Remember that Seinfeld episode where Kramer takes a new car on a test drive with the salesman?
Ya ... It was like that. BTW ... NO SOUP FOR YOU!
Besides ... I paid GOOD $$$$$ back in 2002 and (damnit) parts should last.
So the question remains ... WHY! for the love of all that's holy, can't they put some quality into a vehicle and its parts. http://www.gdmjoe.com/dunno.gif I guess we'll just never know.
Though the answer is 42

There are *new* Motorcraft electrons coursing thru its wires even as I type.

TAKEDOWN - She'll be back.
Geez I hope not.
I buried her deep and covered the dismembered parts with quicklime and chlorine bleach.

I was scared for a second.
Same here. I wondered how such a meticulously-kept automobile could have mechanical issues.

Send it to the glue factory. LOL
Joe, my Marauder is still on its original battery. I'm doing the Seinfeld thing myself. Every time I hit the key I wonder if it will be the last time. Looking to break a battery longevity record. I'll let ya'll know when it goes.

I replaced my battery with a Motorcraft from Ford the first time and it only lasted 3 years. The replacement batteries are not the same as the ones we got from the factory. Save your money and skip the Motorcraft. I got an Energizer from Sams club for $80 that has been going like a champ especially since my car is not a daily driver.

I think that failure was in the minority...
I've only used Motorcraft batteries in all my families cars and they always have lasted quite long. I do usually change them out after eight years just to play it safe.
