View Full Version : Wheel Source?

Now that they have discontinued the use of the full size spare and gone to the temp donut; I wonder if there are any remaining full size wheels?

Since the spare wheel was not chromed, I would like to acquire three more and have them black powder-coated. I think it would look pretty good with black wheels accented by the chrome godshead center and chrome lugnuts.

Who manufactured the wheels? Anyone know the source? Cost?

Even though the full-size spare is no longer in production cars, you should still be able to order the unfinished wheel through a Ford parts counter...

WN: I'd like to see that, I'd honestly go that route if it looks good, chrome is alright...but after a while it gets to be a pain to polish etc......

If it has traction control button on the dash it will have a donut for a spare.

Not exactly a "donut" in the traditional mini spare sense. It's described as a 18" spun aluminum wheel

jefferson-mo, do you know what the rear chromed polished wheels would cost?
I am wondering about the cost to put the same sized wheel and tire on the front as is on the rear. This would allow 4 wheel rotation.

God this is a fun car to drive!! :D

Bill,

I believe the wheels are the same size, just that the tire sizes are different. Mercury had a method to their madness as to why the different tire size, I want to say it either has something to do with the ABS, or the computer. But I'm not sure.

Any car built past Oct 9th has a mini spare and traction control standard.
