So I have had a problem for a while with my airbag light flashing a pattern and I don't know what it means. Any ideas? It flashes 1 then 6 then 1 then 6 then 1 then 6 then stays on. I'm lost.

Air Bag Lights

The Air bag light will illuminate to indicate a fault with the air bag circuit. It will also flash a code to indicate which part of the circuit is at fault.

If a air bag light :

Illuminates and remains on there is a fault with the air bag module or it has lost a feed or an earth.

Flashes constantly there is a fault with the air bag clock spring.

Flashes once there is a fault with the Drivers air bag

Flashes twice there is a fault with the Passengers air bag

Flashes four times there is a fault with the seat belt pretensioners.

Flashes five times there is a fault with the drivers side air bag.

Flashes six times there is a fault with the passengers side air bag.

Tricks of the trade

If the air bag light flashes four times indicating a fault with the pretensioners, with the ignition off, disconnect the pretensioners yellow connectors which are usually positioned under or very near the seats. Wait a couple of minutes and then re-connect them. What happens is sometimes the circuit get a spike and illuminates the light, disconnecting then resets the system and the light goes out. If the light continues to flash there is probably a fault with one or both of the sensors.

So since it's 1 then 6 does that mean both bags have a problem?

I believe you have a code "16".

Disconnect and reconnect the tensioner connector. Make sure there are no broken or pinched wires under the seats.

Any work done recently?

No, but it did have a front end collision before I purchased it. I'm sure thats part of it. Thanks for all the info

Chek the wiring harness at the left front fender / header panel area and the harness behind the drivers side cam cover.

There is also a air bag sensor on the left and right door Middle pillars / the p71's do not have them and Tasca ford has one in stock ,I scored mine from Brian off a Toreador red MM insurance cash out [silver surfer] before he left Maryland.:burnout:[Brandy wine used parts]

B2290 16 Occupant Classification System Fault
B2909 16 Belt Tension Sensor Fault
So it sounds like a problem with either the tensioner in the middle pillar or the sensor in the seat that detects whether someone is sitting in it. Check all the connectors under the seats as well as the yellow ones mentioned in FBMs reply.
