How many of you guys have done this mod? I'm looking for a small upgrade to perform. I also need the part numbers required for this. Was going to IM Musclemerc, but he's not accepting messages at this time. Thanks in advance

I know there are people that say its needed, but if your fuel system does not lean out with your OEM filter, it's not needed.
Why would you cut off the factory lines and locking clips to go with hose clamps?
The friction loss due to the bends in the OEM lines is minimal because the line is under pressue and the OEM filter is more than capable.

You don't have to cut the steel lines to do the mod. The kit comes with 2 hose clamps on each end. Nothing wrong with hose clamps. If you are NA you don't need the mod.

EVERY Marauder should do this mod if you have the factory fuel lines , the plastic hard line is almost kinked shut!

I change my gas filter every 20,000 miles. Knowing about the tight bend at the oem filter was reason enough for me to do this mod. It is cheap and easy to do.

If the car is running fine do you still recommend this as good preventative maintenance as it will almost certainly became an issue that can cause additional damage, or leave as is until it is an issue?

For the price of the -8 line and a couple adapters, you can put a filter of your choice anywhere you want.
The fuel tank is a factory style to -8 adaptor, as well as the fuel rail to -8 adapter, run the line right thru the frame and mount your filter anywhere for easy access.
All said and done maybe an hour of work tops and $150? I mounted my magnafuel filter right behind the vacuum storage box for now. It really doesn't get any easier than this! Originally, I cut my line and ran the bigger filter and it took longer to do that! Plus running around scrounging shelfs looking for one that fit.. All this took was a 10 minute trip to my hydraulic (any hose you want) hose guy and a 5 minute order on Jegs..

justbob,
Where did you run the new line from/to? What brand or model did you buy? Thanks.

From fuel hat, over the axle, and into the frame hole in front of the drivers side rear tire (bottom of frame). It exits the frame right after the fire wall and the fuel filter and line rest on the fender well. I had to open a small hole ever so slightly to exit the line right where the frame goes upward for the front suspension.
I purchased braided PTFE from my hydraulic hose guy and had him press the ends on. All the fittings and adaptors are plug and play from JEGS.

Can anyone confirm what this is for when installing the filter? I didn't see it in any of the pics?

Maybe it's suppose to be self explanatory. Didn't see it on any other photos. Either way, it's done and no leaks.

I ordered it from Musclemerc. Received it in about 1 1/2 weeks. He makes them to order if I'm not mistaken.

You can install a bigger filter without all the hose, clamps and not cut any existing fuel line.
Get a Motorcraft – FG800A filter and a large hose clamp to fit around the filter, bend the original filter bracket to fit the new filter. Use the original fittings and locks to secure the filter. If you need new locks for the fittings, go to a NAPA store and get FILNCK11 (package of 10).
I never saw the need to butcher the existing fuel lines. Supposed to help the gas flow better getting rid of some of the kinks. If your putting out that much HP that you need better fuel flow you'd be better off upgrading the entire fuel delivery system. IMHO....

I feel better with the new setup after seeing those 90* bends in the stock lines. Getting rid of those alone makes me feel better being Supercharged
