Or just find a factory pullout from a P71 Vic that had LED's on either side of the third brake light, see them for sale from time to time for $50 or less.

I can rework yours and add a "MARAUDER" overlay and a strobe module. I've done a number of these for other members.

Ooohhh that sounds pretty dam cool. You got a picture?
Will it cause less light to show than stock or be brighter?

The 96 LEDs makes it nice and bright. The strobe makes it really noticeable.

More than twice but you get the idea. I don't just sell replacement bulbs, I actually put LED panels inside the CHMSL and wire it up so it's plug'n'play.

Those Federal Signal units use old school diodes and aren't as bright as surface mount diodes. Best is to have one custom made.

Removing the CHMSL is quite easy. If memory serves it's just two screws on either end, then unplug the wiring harness. Should have it out in less than 5 minutes.
As for the LED upgrade, talk to FBM on how long it takes

Oops sorry you were asking about removing the BCM, not CHMSL.. when I read your post above you misspelled "this" but I read it as Third. And I was thinking of third brake light.
My apologies

The BCM can be a "pain in the arse" to do. You might have to remove the heater hoses to gain good access. If you do, remember to burp the cooling system properly.

Yeah im reading one of the threads someone made a few years back. Once and if i get the BCM out, how much would you charge to replace for one of yours?

I charge $25.00 and all I ask is that you send me your old one so I can repair it and send it to someone else.

This modification does not conform with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 108, which requires that the CHMSL only illuminate when applying the brakes, and not flash.

Alot of modifications don't conform.... what's your point?

If said vehicle is involved in an accident, and the brake system is modified, it can open the car owner and the one who modified the brakes/lights to legal and civil issues.

Big brake upgrade, forced induction, LED upgrades, a tune, etc. are also modifications and can open the car owner and the one who modified the systems to legal and civil issues.

Look, I'm not trying to rain on your parade...... I am all about modding and brighter lights, but modulating, pulsing, flashing the CHMSL is a big " no no", there are other factors that fall into modifying that device as well, as it interfaces with the shift interlock and cruise on panthers IIRC.
Just putting that out as general information, the items you speak of may not possibly cause death as a non working or not working correctly brake light on a car, furthermore, most states have laws written that prohibits the use of flashing blinking or oscillating lights, I thought you worked for a PD? Certainly you would know that??????
Furthermore.......It is written into federal law that the CHMSL cannot be modified to flash. I'll look, but I don't think there is anything written about S/C a car, tuning, widened wheels, 4:10 gears, big brakes, actually, you can buy those options on certain cars straight from the dealer. Oddly enough I don't see flashing CHMSL's on any option sheets, you know why? It's violation of federal law!!!!!
Mod away, make it your own, but Be safe about it.

I have flashing brake lights on my Harley, 7 lights flash when I hit the brakes, never been stopped or ticketed for it. Even had a State Patrol officer behind/beside me at several lights.

I see a lot of newer cars that flash four or five time when the light first comes on and then goes steady. If that is allowed from the factory, something similar should also be. There was a company that sold kits that flashed the brake light a few times and then stayed steady (I have had one on my MM for several years now). I can understand a constant red flashing light being illegal in some states, but the factory ones would have had to be federal certified prior to the car being built.

Hope this clears things .
Section S5.5.10 of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108, Lamps reflective devices and associated equipment, establishes the wiring requirements for lighting equipment in use, and requires that all lamps be wired to be steady burning, unless otherwise stated. All stoplamps must be steady burning when in use. Steady means free from change or variation. This means that they must not modulate, flash, or vary in size, area, intensity or appearance.
I did see an article that said the traveling brake lights on ford mustangs
other cars where technically illegal but the law was not enforced at the time

That's exactly how the strobe(s) I install works....... one type flashes rapidly 5 or 6 times then the light is on steady until you reapply the brakes. The other type flashes rapidly 3 or 4 times, flashes slower 2 or 3 times then comes on steady.
It may or may not conform to the federal regs but I highly doubt you'd get pulled over for having it or if in an accident the insurance company will deny coverage. I'd like to know if that has ever happened. If anything it makes your CHMSL more noticeable. Some times the regulations aren't very good for safety.... case in point - how long has European cars had better headlights then the U.S.?

You mean thank god you have the police to protect you.......
I merely pointed out that it can cause a problem, and if you think you can't or won't get ticketed for something like that....... Pi$$ off your local LEO and see how many equipment violations you can stack up. It gets even more fun when your ride gets towed and impounded, you may beat the charge, but it will be mighty inconvenient for you.
As I said, I mod the hell out of everything I have, but you also have to use some judgement, and since people live all over the world that are on this board, it was put out for information only, I don't care how anyone mods their car.
