Edit.....car is back up for sale and now has a cowl hood...New pics added..

I'm thinking of selling my Caprice Classic...

I bought this 96 Caprice Classic and rebuilt the motor......put all new bearings and honed the cylinders and new rings and all new gaskets and seals,,,new ac compressor. I left it all stock but it did have a cold air intake and a set of Comp cams roller rockers and LS beehive valve springs already..........car runs and drivers excellent and has ice cold ac......Car is super clean and straight and near mint...rare paint color..and is super nice but the tops of both bumper covers need paint.......107,xxx miles and motor has about 1,000 miles......originally from Fl... theres no rust and super clean.....about a $1,000 stereo system......this is the hardest car to put a price on .... i'm thinking $7,600

I thought I read that the Caprice SS was only sold in Saudi Arabia because they didn't use the Impala name there. But then I saw one that said Caprice SS at a Pick-n-Pull here a few years ago.

Anyone know more about this?

Chevrolet built it's last Impala in 1985 and from that year forward the car was badged and sold as a Caprice with no available Impala model, the exception was the 1994-1996 Impals SS model. Little to anyone's knowledge the Impala SS is really a Caprice with the Impala SS option package (WX3 = Merchandised package, Impala SS) selected during the ordering process. Caprice's have always been a popular export car to the middle east like Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. During the production years of the 1994-1996 Impala SS, Chevrolet actually exported the Caprice SS (WX8 - Merchandised package, Caprice SS) to these countries. It has been told the reason GM exported the Impala SS badged as the Caprice SS is because the Caprice already had a good reputation in those countries. The Caprice SS was identical to an Impala SS, all the Impala SS emblems that appears on the U.S. model were replaced with Caprice SS emblems. Examples: Rear Quarter Panel Scripts instead of saying Impala SS were replaced with Caprice SS, same for the dash emblem above the radio. The Impala emblems on the rear "C" pillars and trunk remained the same. Colors in the Caprice SS were the same three colors, however I know the U.S. color (DCM) Dark Cherry Metallic was named (BCM) Black Cherry Metallic for the export Caprice SS. The picture shows several Victory Red colored Caprice SS's in use by the Kuwait State Army, I am not sure if GM exported these Caprice SS's in the Victory Red color or if they were repainted in country for the Kuwait State Army.

You probably have one of the nicest Caprices around. Clean as a whistle compared to many others I've seen. I still can't believe I own one of these beasts (WX3) but she's hibernating til the spring. Second longest ownership experience besides my MM. Can't wait to put Street Rod tags or Historic vehicle plates on her. 2016=20 years old. GLWS and don't be surprised if you end up with a true WX3 in the near future.

Nice car and good luck with sale. I too owned a 1994 Caprice and a 1996 Impala SS. Sold the Caprice with almost 200k miles for $5000. Sold the Impala for $7500 with 176k miles. So whomever gets this is getting a great deal
