Yes, and it's a bigger deal than you might imagine!

Anybody who has been around me longer than 15 seconds knows of my passion for Disney, which started when I worked at Disneyland in college, postgraduate work and my first career year. And then I went off into the world and bid adieu to Disneyland, except for visits as a guest. Through various circumstances, I've stayed in the Disneyland orbit, but nothing with a direct connection.

All that is going to change.

Today I accepted a career position at The Walt Disney Company, at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, starting January 12, 2015! I will be working with Big Data and helping the Disney Company leverage data collected from the various components to make their marketing, merchandising and guest services more effective.

I cannot say this any other way: I wished upon a star, and it's a dream come true!

West Coast Marauders: look out - my Kenny Brown car is coming your way!!

(and - goodbye snow!)

Wow Mark that's terrific! Another east coast transplant to the west coast. We'll have to meet up somewhere between Burbank and Seattle.

Congrats Mark on the new position !! Looks like it is going to be a lot of fun for you and a return to your Disney roots. We'll miss you in Northern Virginia. I envy you on getting out of this "rat race" .... but you may have found the only place where traffic is gonna be worse than here.

Let me know if any positions open up for driving the Monorail. That has always been my retirement job in joking with the family. Not sure that I can meet the Disney "always-smiling" image though. :o

Any CA Emissions issues associated with the KB #10 in California ??

I think I'm going from the 'rat race' to the 'mousecapades.' :)

I'll find out, but I don't expect any (the other thread on emissions testing seems to confirm this). It's coming out there as an eleven year old 'used car' that passes all the OBD-II tests here in Virginia (and formerly Illinois). so I am hoping there is consideration for that. California people can chime in here if they know more about this.

And ... Disney's relocation people said they'd ship it in an enclosed car hauler separately from my household goods, billed directly to them. I can store it in the underground garage at the Studio lot until I get settled with a home that has its own garage.

I do want to take it down to the original Cars 'n' Coffee in Irvine at least once.

That's pretty cool. I was just about to ask you if you were planning on driving it across the country...

But with an orientation date in January, doubtful you would want to drive with any kind of possible inclement weather

Congrats!

I interviewed at the Lucas office at the Presidio after it was bought by Disney. The VP of HR for Disney didn't like me so I didn't get the job.

My girlfriend's friend worked for Disney but she was just laid off. Now she works at Survey Monkey but she let us use her disney store discount before her last day.

Awesome. You and your staff should be well aware of my friend here in London Ontario Canada who happens to hold the world record for disney Tattoo's. He has a Shrine at home, a room dedicated to Mickey/Disney. He has been treated like GOLD being flown to California and been to Florida every year. He just got back last Monday from a 3 week stay there.
He has 1 arm and can weld better than I can, has built several cars, and things in your life that would make your head spin....He has a heart of gold....Ask around...im sure his name resinates

Any CA Emissions issues associated with the KB #10 in California ??

Today KB#10 got its own set of California license plates. Passed smog check last week. (Bad news: they are garden variety California plates. "AG HG" is taken, so I've got to think of something novel for here.)

I'm hoping to come to Marauderville this year. I haven't been too active around that topic, because I've spent the last three and a half years (yes, years) planning an Alumni Reunion, with all the hotel/entertainer/transportation/food/etc. stuff that goes along with it. That event happens August 1 (yes, two days). Then I will take a full day off that think about joining the things I have been missing. Like Marauderville. Having one of the few KB cars on the west coast sort of makes it mandatory!

Did they hire you on a H1B visa? Just kidding. I'm going to Disney sometime before year end. I have some tickets expiring.

Welcome to California.
Disney land is too expensive. About $100 per person

Hope you can make it to Maurauderville.

You will need a tune for California, as you will not pass Smog with anything turned off. Check with Mo.

DMV
When moving from another state-- (for realzys) if your car is legally smogged there, you can petition for it to remain as is, and be legal in CA with an exemption. They watch this closely (for guys like me), and require copies of bills, etc... from your household there, and even maybe your tax filing, to prove you really lived there.

I researched it for another member who was moving to CA... shouldnt be too much of a problem if you dont SELL the car in CA..

Darn - all the ones you suggested are taken. I've only got 7 characters to play with, including spaces.
