Okay, so I found one here on the island, 03 Marauder, 2nd owner (according to carfax), he's had it since 5K miles and it currently has 80K on it now. All stock besides cd player, second pair of cats removed and flowmaster mufflers installed.

I noticed the underhood light was not plugged in.

Should I be concerned about the second pair of cats being removed due to other state inspections?

And how hard is it to get the steering wheel controls working again?

One last question, the driver seat doesn't go forward or backward; how hard would it be to replace the motor?

Anything else I should ask about?

Thanks guys!!

Forgot to add that it is a 300a 2003, spoiler and cd changer.

Alot of members here have 2nd cats removed and not an issue as they are not monitored..mufflers, not an issue..Does it have an aftermarket radio? depending on how old it is, an interface can be added to allow for steering wheel controls, need model and brand to determine. I'm not familiar with the seat motors so another member will need to respond. got any pics of car yet?

Guys, anything else I should ask about? Isn't the LCM now covered under warranty?

It is covered under warranty ... They out the same defective design in. I would suggest talking to members here and having it repaired the right way.

It shouldn't be too hard to swap out the seat motor. There really isn't much to the seat. At least compared to other repairs that these cars sometimes need.

I just went and looked at my seat. The motor is in a good spot. Just take off the seat bolts(4) and disconnect a couple connectors and the motor is right there. http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/tt153/2000-cvpi/2003%20Marauder/20141128_172109.jpg (http://s607.photobucket.com/user/2000-cvpi/media/2003%20Marauder/20141128_172109.jpg.html)
The motor is the black box with a part number on it.

make sure to disconnect the battery before removing the seat otherwise two things could happen. anti theft will kick in and side airbag could go off.

hah, nice, thanks guys! so it's more than likely that the motor is bad?

Find out:
*how many times was the tranny fluid purged, once so far
*did the car ever over heat? No
*when was the radiator fluid changed, never
* how many times was the differential fluid purged, once so far
*does the ac work and was actuator ever replaced if
yes that's good? ac blows very, very cold! Don't know if actuator has been changed.
*How does the engine oil look did the owner use
Motorcraft filter or cheap junk i.e. Fram
*Does the car track straight or pull to the left or right? Car tracks like a train down the highway, no pulling from what I can tell.

Anything else, guys?

Owner just informed me that he switched over to HID bulbs until one of the ballasts went out, then he switched back to original headlights. He says he's still running on HID foglights; I'm a bit confused on this...

Should I be worried about any of this? Also, if I were to put in non-hid bulbs could I melt/burn anything? Are HID kits truly plug and play?

I've come across a few minor issues, I'll be posting later.. thanks for the input everyone!

Good deal finding one locally...as you were prepared to ship one to you for $2k..but you need to add in the cost to get it to the port (depending on where you found one in the states) and that can add $1000 -2500 more to the ocean cost so you saved money and can now fix the little things and I recommend getting an SCT tune from one of the vendors here..Marty O, MO's Speed shop..it will waken up the car and allow you to change it back to factroy tune for emissions testing etc. and then go back to the tune.

Not a problem since the systems are different. You might want to just redo the HID headlights.

Before you replace the seat motor, which rarely go bad, I'd check the power to the motor. Most likely the switch is bad or needs to be cleaned.

Should I be concerned about the second pair of cats being removed due to other state inspections?Does Hawai'i use a sniffer in the tailpipe, or do they just plug into the DLC? Do they do a visual inspection of the exhaust system to look for missing cats?

jmsa540

actually none of the above, they all just do a visual inspection of the car, turn signals, wiper blades, does the body look good?, etc.

How do I do that?

The driver seat top goes back and forth, and the bottom goes up and down. It's just that the bottom doesn't go back or forth to get closer or further away to the pedals.. I can hear it running but it's just not moving.. Perhaps the seat is stuck?

The passenger side just doesn't move at all... No sound or anything...

Roger, but I'm a service member so I move around a lot, I'm not worried though. :)

The only place the missing cats should be an issue is in the PRK (People's Republic of Kalifornia).

As to the inop seat, is it only the forward/rearward function? All the other parts of the seat move normally?

jmsa540
11-29-2014, 01:17 PM
yes, all other parts work besides the forward/rearward.. thanks for staying in this thread overlord. :)

RF Overlord

The fore & aft function, the rear up & down and the front up & down all use separate motors, so it *could* be a bad motor, but is more likely a problem with the switch or the wiring.

FSM says to disconnect connector C353 under the seat...it should be the only one with 6 pins. Check pins 1 & 4 for voltage to ground whilst actuating the switch. Pins 1 (forward) & 4 (rearward) are the 2 closest to the wider "tabs" or "ears" on the connector. They are YE/WH and RD/WH.

If you have voltage, then the problem is in the seat track assembly. If you don't, then you need to check the switch and the wiring harness.

I hear the motor running, it's just not moving... How do I fix the seat track? So it isn't electrical...that's less good. You'll have to take the seat out and see what's wrong. The FSM just says to "replace the seat track" if it doesn't work.

OK, unplug both terminals first though, right?
