I find myself often educating people about the existence of marauders here in B.C at work or wherever i may go. Anyone else ever find themselves to be a sort of encyclopedia?
It's crazy that very few round here recognize em for what they are. I do love seeing wide eyes when i say theres a Mach1 under the hood :burnout:
I hope one day she will receive the recognition she deserves.

Yes most people around here have never seen an MM or know any stats on them. The local so called car guys even most of them do not know of their existence even.

I can say at least the car guys round here do know what a marauder is but thats about it. spec knowledge is very hit and miss.

As the years go by, more and more seem to know the Marauder around these parts.

No matter where I go with the MM I always get questions about it.... even at "All Ford " car shows.

I've been finding that too. Then there's always the stray idiot that starts telling YOU about the car, and thinks it's a Grand Marquis.

Its often surprising which people are which.

It's funny how my coworkers make fun of me saying that I have a big land boat but ones they get to ride the car when we go to lunch they always tell me hit the gas and they can't believe it's that's fast [emoji469]

Usually followed with " does it still have the cop chip installed"?
Faithfully spreading the word for 33 years. I don't think it's changed much in all of that time, both cars included. Most people don't have a clue. It's refreshing when you get to talk to someone who really knows.

I like what you've done with that cop car.
Why did you put chrome rims on a cop car?
Why did you put MA-ROUD-ER on the back bumper?
Most of the things I hear.
I quit trying to tell people about it because it goes one of 2 ways.
1. They know someone that has a friend that has one so they know more about it then you do.
2. Still say it's a special addition cop car.
It is nice to teach those who are willing to listen though.

In the one and only car show I entered my car in, I put the Marauder certificate, along with the HotRod magazine blurb on the front of the engine compartment to help stop the dumb remarks.

I know that feeling I won a trophy for my mercury marauder and when the guy called out my name and car he said Chrysler Marauder :puke:

I had to educate someone at The Chicago Auto show who was working for Ford! He told me they made 15,000. He wouldn't listen and was only interested in educating me on the latest FWD ugly crap.

Here's some of my comments I have got ,does it have a V8 which by the way is the most asked question, why does it say Marauder on the rear bumper, was it a cop car ,like the fireman on the center caps, does it have a manual transmission. And the classic is it front or rear wheel drive .if I remember more I'll add later lol.

It's to the point now I just stop entertaining foolishness and just tell ppl to google it unless they have genuine interest. Lots of ppl like to be smart asses and just make assumptions. I've even been asked why did I put chrome dual exhaust on my car (even though my entire exhaust system is original). Thank Ford for that one! :mad2:

My best encounters have to be this one woman who came up to me while i was working to ask me about my "vic" she thought the marauder bumper was some aftermarket badge i put on for fun.
Another older fellow with a 2011 grand marquis came in and started talking and going on about the cobra motor and this and that. I humoured him since i wasnt gonna win lol.

Quick story:
Real rich older guy in LaGuna beach, CA... Driving a Ferrari... Asks me, "if you don't mind me asking, WHAT IS IT with these Marauders?" I ask him what he means, he says, " a car dealer friend of mine MADE me buy one of those when they came out. I have Bulls, horses, (a rich guys way of name dropping car brands), jags.... And every coffee car Saturday (remember, we are talking about Laguna Beach), when I take the %##-ing Marauder out, guys come out of the woodwork to ask about it. It gets more attention than my Lamborghini. I can't even buy gas in that car without someone asking about it."

This whole idea is foreign to me. I never get stopped and asked about the car. I drive it all over and barely get noticed. That's with a DTR and my previous SB Marauder. My coworkers asked about the car when I bought it, but after that no one ever asks me about it.
I get far less attention in my 2003 than I do in the 1963, but people still do ask about the '03 now and then.

My coworkers wish that id shut up about mine....and usually refer to it as a gran marquis or crown vic, just to piss me off.

I got the same feeling after about a week or so of having it. I stopped talking about the car once I heard some of the cop car comments that they were saying about it.

My coworkers said the same comments. After I heard enough I took them for a ride in the neighboring industrial park..
Now they ask me what I've changed up from time to time because they know my never enough way at life.

I've learned a long time ago in galaxy far far away that you can't fix stupid. You can try to explain something to someone, but you'll never be able to understand it for them.http://www.4smileys.com/smileys/thinking-smileys/think_smiley_49.gif (http://www.4smileys.com)

This. My co workers do the exact same thing. but as others have said too, they all love riding in it.

I actually prefer the ignorance. There is a mystique that follows this car. Its similar to what people think they know about the GNX, typhoon/cyclone, impala ss..etc.. i used to go insane trying to educate people about my cars but now id rather not bother if people dont wanna listen. I mostly dont get questions thou but instead just " nice car".

I get the Cobra motor comment the most, if only it really came with one. People still seem impressed when I tell them it's Mach 1 engine, mostly because I think they know less about that engine.
Seems like the younger set is more aware of what a Marauder is than the 35+ crowd. I pulled into a ricer show last Summer just to see what was what and the second I pulled in a kid sitting in front of a VW Golf looking thing yells out 'Hey nice Marauder'

Same here. No one cared in northern Virginia when I lived there. No one cares here in Seattle, WA.
Must be all the states in between that people have genuine interest because I have not seen this stuff that you guys are talking about...

I get more attention and comments about my Marauder than with my 2001 Mustang Gt. I get positive remarks from all age groups about the big black beast!! It makes it hard to decide which car to sell this spring since I don't really need two play cars to keep! Help!:violin:

Everybody and their grandmother knows about my impala and I even get ppl that think its the fastest sedan in the world short of a Hellcat but when folks see my Marauder I might as well drive a UFO spaceship cuz most ppl have no clue.:depress:
Sometimes it is quite entertaining when you have to explain an entire car line that was discontinued a decade ago. Usually younger people know a lot about it.

I get the SAME EXACT crap from a kid at work who drives a 2007 Tahoe that he thinks is the sh*znits. My response: "You will never enter that thing in a car show because no one will ever look at it, nor will you ever win first place like I did". It shuts him up every time! :P

In Connecticut, Mass, Vermont, NY state - every gas station or store I park at, the car get's stared at and/or a walk up questionnaire.
I appreciate the visual impact it has, I bought it for that!
I get asked if it has the police interceptor motor, I just say no.
Some hear the blower whine and comment - they get a tire chirp from me.
I love the reaction, but not the attention.

Was at the barbershop once. And for the first time ever, i parked right in front of the shop, a good view for everyone to see. As i was getting my hair did i noticed all the barbers would go outside look at it and take pictures. Then when i was heading out, one barber offered me $3000 for it. I said, "Give me the $15k it cost me and its yours"
He gave me this dumbfounded look...he probably thought I was crazy for paying $15k for a Vic. 😒😞

$3,000 I would have told him if I needed crack or crystal meth I'd take him up on his offer. That's just plain out ignorant and disrespectful. I'd tell him to go on MM.net then Wikipedia then cars.com/autotrader, then CL and make a better offer.

You're absolutely right but at least they know OF it so they have a clue. Complete opposite with the MM. I had a couple of guys give me a surprised raised eyebrow when I told them it blows the doors off of P71 crown vics and all Stock MMs have a DIFFERENT motor than the vic. Some ppl don't know the imp SS and most Caprice 9C1s have the same engine smh.

I sell cars. With other sales people that have sold cars for 20-30 years. They do not know what my MM is. It shows me right away who the ignorant folks are.
One lady I worked with (broken human and hater) asked me why I put gang banger wheels on. I said blame Ford if you don't like them, they put them on at the factory. She said no they didn't. I refuse to argue with ignorance, I just said "don't take my word for it, look on wiki or something."
More ignorance from car sales "veterans"
-"Does that come with a special engine?"
-back in service..."Did you realize you wrote down two different sizes for the tires you want me to order you?!"
-"Can we go to lunch in your 'Magruder'? I like that car!"
-Why are you putting in premium?! You don't have to do that.
Y mucho mas...
