One week ago - last Sunday - my wife got into an accident with a large tour bus one block from home. The bus clipped the right front of my MM. Damage to front bumper (replace), right headlight assembly (replace), front plastic piece over grill (replace) (grill OK); damage to right front quarter panel (they are going to repaint this)

The bus didn't realize he clipped her and continued on his merry way. Luckily, there were plenty of witnesses and hopefully the police can track this jerk down.

Monday morning the car is going into the body shop to get repaired "good-as-new". They said it'll take about 5 days to complete the work.

You guess the total amount of the bill from the body shop, including labor and parts; not including the rental car they will provide.

All guesses should be posted to this thread and the person that comes closest to the actual invoiced amount wins a new-in-the-box GEORGE FOREMAN GRILL!!

I dont have any pictures of the damage so use your imagination from the info I have provided.

.......oh, and the wife is OK and the baby was not with her.

But in the interest of giving everyone a shot at winning this fabulous time-saving prize, I wont share the amount until I pick up my fully-repaired Marauder on Friday.

keep those guesses coming - someone is going to win!

I feel better knowing the car is being worked on at the moment. I also feel better seeing lots of high-end cars in their workshop (a few 7 series BMW's, a coupla Jags, A Ferrari, and a Roll's) Looks like I picked the right place to have it worked on. They said 4 or 5 days. Still plenty-o-time to get your guesses in. Still lots of folks yet to get their guesses posted and remember to check previous guesses and try to stay $25 away from an already-posted amount.

Oh, and the rental car place gave me a Sable - it actually has a large trunk!

I haven't checked all the other threads, but I'm guessing $4550.

still plenty of time to guess!

I drove the Sable rental car today for about 50 miles - was not too bad on the highway in stop and go traffic. Leaves a lot to be desired in terms of comfort but was a reasonably decent ride nonetheless. I think the mileage is pretty good, which was a nice little treat.

I sure hope everyone who damages their car [or in my case, their wife damages the car] posts a similar contest - kinda fun taking something miserable like a week at the auto body shop and making it into a something fun, like a free George Foreman Grill.
