It's Time!!! Marauderville 2015 !!!
The time to plan Marauderville 2015 is upon us!! Here are the criteria and timeframe for proposals. MM.Net Administration will review the proposals, which must be submitted by March 1, 2015. Look for an announcement in Mid March 2015 for MV2015!! (email address below)
Criteria for Marauderville 2015
Lodging
Hotel must be affordable. Someone MUST make an on-site visit to determine available facilities.
Amenities: King and Two Queen rooms; High Speed Internet (preferably at no extra charge); dining room, banquet facility, bar all on-site or within close proximity; pool preferred.
The hotel must be able to offer a block of no less than 50 rooms and have ample parking. Security is a high priority.
Itinerary
¼ or 1/8 mile drag strip, Road course or oval track within a reasonable distance and the cost of use. Test and Tune is an affordable option.
Things to see and do: plant/factory tours, museums, breweries, local culture, Cruises, anything automotive and/or transportation related.
Car Show with awards
Maraudervilles have traditionally been a Thursday through Sunday event, though other days to fit a specific scheduled event would be fine. Early Fall would be ideal, although other times will be considered depending on circumstances such as events we can piggyback on.
Consider the distances needed to travel in between itinerary locations as well as traffic and turns.
Down time and time to socialize are important so there's no need to fill every minute of the day.
Responsibilities of Planning Team
Communiciation and follow-through are the most important tasks for the Team. MM.Net will provide a closed forum for the Planning Team so all communications and tracking are in once place.
Site visits to potential hotels and all proposed venues.
Contact and pricing for awards and t-shirts. If you have no one local, we can provide info from prior vendors that served us well.
Contact Supporting Vendors and local area businesses and Chamber of Commerce for support of MV2015.
Manage as a team any fundraising opportunities to help reduce the cost of Registration for Attendees.
Please include projected costs for any itinerary options such as admissions, fees, rentals, meals, catering, insurance, etc. It is OK to suggest "meal on your own."
Use 100 people as a guideline for costs.
Relate why you feel Marauderville 2015 should be at your location. What makes it “special & unique”?
Any members of previous planning teams would be more than happy to share their experiences. MM.Net pays all the bills and if you must front money, you will be reimbursed with receipts. MM.Net manages the Eventbrite and PayPal functions.
Please submit your proposal to MM.Net@MercuryMarauder.Net (MM.Net@MercuryMarauder.Net) by March 1, 2015. Follow-up on the proposal may be needed, so please include names, email addresses and phone numbers of Members involved in the proposal.
The most important part of planning and execution is a dedicated group of people - doesn't need to be many - that can follow through with all aspects of the event. Also, not everyone on the Planning Team needs to live in the proposed Host Site.
If you have any questions, please email MM.Net@MercuryMarauder.Net (MM.Net@MercuryMarauder.Net) or talk to Dan or Mary.

Just checking in and :bump: this thread.
If any group is in proposal discussions, could you please shoot me a PM? If we don't get any proposals, we'll have to come up with Plan B.
Thanks!!

I had a few guys say there were going to meet me at power tour 2014, but sold out. Instead I met an awesome guy, with a engine from my job (roush yates). We had a ball. Let's bring the dark Knights, silver birch's, the blue's and maroons to power tour this year. There are not many Marauder owners left. Let's make it count!

All things being equal a West Coast Marauderville is overdue IMHO. I gotta say that I hope Vegas gets the nod but regardless... there will be a Vegas meet so all is not lost. Way to go Mebot & team. Got my fingers crossed for MV!
There is no way in H#ll a MV will be held in Vegas.

Trust me I'm not knocking you or the idea.
Fact is, Marauder owners live on the opposite coast.
The die-hard MV attendees would probably not drive all the way there anyway, myself included.
Best of luck in planning though!

Yes I agree there is a larger contingent of Marauder ownership on the east coast. That point has been brought up several times already.
Thing is.. you just don't know till you try. so we'll push for a Marauderville and see what happens.

And further to the point about driving.. well Vegas is a pretty cheap flight from most major airport hubs with non-stop flights daily... so there is the option to fly in.

Marauderville with no Marauders????

Marauderville with no Marauders????
Never been a requirement! I've flown into nine Maraudervilles. It always came down to managing my vacation time - 4-5 travel days takes a lot out of my vacation bank. I still had just as much fun and got to ride in lots of Marauders.

Marauderville with no Marauders????
Of course there'll be Marauders! It's the West Coast time to shine. We have a lot of interest and there's a lot of folks in WA, CA, OR, ID, AZ who are interested in making the trip.
I was suggesting flights for east folks who may want to fly in.

I've been thinking about this (Dangerous, I know).
I know that MV's are about the driving.
But, as Mary notes, vacation time limits time on the road.
How about regional car carrier pick ups of Marauders?:
The delivery of cars to coincide with owners' arrival (by air) in LV?
Regional owners cars could be picked up in central locations a few days before the event and hauled out to LV
Could be a discount for volume if one carrier were involved.

I always wanted to go to Vegas, but drive? Um no.
And the comment of Maraudervilles with no Marauders? In ten years that will be the case. Long term members that sold off still made a lifetime of friends to visit.

I might actually drive*...but even if I flew I'm really there for the friendships that the car brought my way over the years.
*Would love to add the LVMS to the list

I totally agree with you both. We don't need every last Marauder to attend, regardless of where the meet is held there will always be those who cannot make it. Heck, for the past few years before I even OWNED a Marauder I fantasized about attending a Marauderville, and it just might be possible now. We will have plenty West Coast Marauders and surely many from elsewhere! Change is not necessarily bad, And I feel we really do deserve a chance at having a Marauderville on our side of the Country. In all honesty at the end of the day I cant see how a good time would not be had. And Mebot, I apologize for the delay in replying to your emails. Im actually on a mini vacation camping out on my dads property in the Arizona Desert! Im gonna get on that right now. I will be in touch with you shortly.

PLUS, please note, we've been working on a "fly N drive" pairing where people who cannot drive, can fly in to Vegas, be paired with a West Coast Marauder, and ride with them to all events (or trade and ride with other members too).
This way people can fly in, ride in another's Marauder, attend all functions, and fly out.
This gives our community more east meets west member friendships and memories, and make a nice easy vacation for some--as they fly into vegas-have fun-and then fly home.
While this may ne be everyones PERFECT solution, it is A solution.
I know I would have attended a few Maraudervilles back east if someone would have picked me at the airport/hotel and I got to ride (shotgun!) in someone else clean and happy Marauder to the events, and then I got to fly home (or off to work).
And shipping the cars and then flying one way is an option too.
I think Vegas can and will be a great vacation / destination Marauderville. Yes change, yes different venue, yes maybe less cars. Yes the challenges some of the far east will face are... the exact same as the members of the West face going East to Maraudervilles.
We want to be fun! We want it to be memorable. We want it to be cool. And we want to serve the Marauder community well, as you have served us all these years.
VEGAS BABY!

There was a previous MM.net member who sold his low mile Marauder (I almost bought it), that was a car carrier driver. It would be neat if we could entice him to come vacation in Vegas in September, and carry cars each way.
